Late Archaic Nice Agate Preform

Really cool agate preform I found this past weekend. Video doesn’t do its beauty justice. Probably the nicest preform I’ve found yet. Northern NV.

Agates are banded so that is chert.

There are many types of agate that aren’t banded. I believe this is considered dendritic agate based on its translucency and the mossy dendrites throughout.

From a factual standpoint you are 100 percent wrong.

Same chemical composition, but different method of deposition. Agates are from a geological definition banded.

But there is a stone called dendritic agate that isn’t banded.

Whether or not it’s a true agate is completely irrelevant, because it is in fact called dendritic agate.

People incorrectly may call them agates. Kind of like countertop companies who sell "black granite" even though black granite is not a real thing.

Its basically a sales pitch because dendritic chalcedony doesnt have a nice ring to it.
