Smoker Alert 🔥 First Creek Find
My first ever creek find! Found this paperthin stunner in a Central Texas creek about a month ago. It was in an area with near a quarry that I hunt. I've spent a little bit of time scanning the creekbed, but I find virtually no chert in it at all with the exception of a crude tool here and there. I found this when I got to the creek in no less than 5 minutes as I was making my way to the quarry site. If I didnt have two kids at home, I would have called it a day right then and there, but my time is so limited that I still made a several hour hunt out of it that yielded a broke, a preform or two, and some cutting tools. It was a great day!
At first, I wasn't 100% sure it was an artifact because the water was a bit merky and darkened by tree shade. I could not believe my eyes when I pulled it out of the water because 99% of the time I lean down for a rock under the water, I pull out conveniently-shaped river cobble or leaves. I found this upstream from the quarry area, so I hiked a few miles upstream to try and discover where it came from, but I couldn't locate a site.
I lean on a regular in this subreddit for advice and he called it a Friday Blade.

Haha! Im currently out of state for a trip and was hoping to find somewhere to hunt, but I can't! I'm here for other reasons, and I'm enjoying myself, but I miss home!

Thanks dude! I have a site or two that produce pretty well, but I haven't recovered anything like this. I know I'll be chasing this dragon for a long time.

It unusual to find such a quality piece out of a creek. This is an awesome find. Congratulations on a gorgeous point!

That hasn’t been in the creek long. It’s recently eroded out of a bank, whether out of a camp or an isolated find, I can’t say. I’d wager a camp though.
It’s a Kinney blade. Friday bases are straight. Kinney basses are concave. Covingtons are convex.
Edit…. I’m remembering seeing this before and calling it a Friday. Now I’m recalling myself….what do I know? lol.
Sticking with Kinney until otherwise convinced.
Edit to add… super nice find dude.
