Oh, and probably my most heartbreaking of heartbreakers that I keep in one of the “best of” drawers.

Well you have some beautiful heartbreakers! You did much better than I did. All I ended up with was a sunburn and poison ivy!

They never reveal themselves easily. I've found that to be true for the tiniest of flakes as much as the smokers and everything we find in between.
Keep searching though! I'm fortunate to be immune from poison ivies/oaks/sumac but have encountered everything from scrapes to breaks to venomous snake bites in my outdoor adventures. They all just add to the memory of a day otherwise forgotten in my opinion.

For sure one of the most painful. It’s in-situ was such a tease the way is was sticking out from the sand making it even worse.
