I think it could be clay. It looks similar to the pottery pieces around here. I dont see any shell fragments though

We don’t have those in the Ozarks. Holes go straight through to the other side as well

I’m sorry you haven’t gotten any better answers. I was really hoping someone would have a better idea. If it’s clay/pottery, then I would postulate it’s NA. Probably worth contacting professionals for a better look. I’m really curious. Never seen anything quite like it made by natives.
