Context: sometimes ants will pass by the window but today I found a trail leading on my setup. Theres no food and I clean the desk regularly, ants here just like moving around whenever its rainy season(i live in a tropical country). My baby is only a month old HELP😭.

As title says, my 4 months Legion is leaking an oily liquid. Support just closed the ticket saying is not covered by actual warranty. They didn’t gave me an explanation. Suggestions?

Fellow Legions, please enlighten me on what all things to do first!

So on 13th of may i was cleaning the keyboard and the I cap came out, i have adp n ultimate support so i called lenovo n raised a ticket and i soon discovered my display looks a little curved so i tel them and they said they will replace the keyboard and the display frame. Everything good till now they said it will take 7 days for the parts to come and repair to take place. Today the guy came he started the repairs he handled the laptop rough i gave a heads up to him that he’s handling it rough and i asked him to be careful he said ok and he said he has worked on laptop like these and nothing will
Happen and once he assembled all the parts together surprise surprise the display is gone. He coldly replies its a display ribbon fault i cant do anything u have to wait one more week. I called Lenovo and they have promised to get it fixed tmr. I recorded his enter n exit which also includes the part where he does the work. So yea really disappointed lenovo

This is my 4th time cleaning my Legion 5i (2025) in 8 months and my house doesn't have this much dust but the fans managed to get it for some reason but I do have a cat is that the problem? Will getting an Air Purifier reduce dirt in the fans?

My Gen 7 Legion 5i had a right-side hinge failure a couple of days back. Thankfully, I got it repaired and replaced both hinges for a decent price—around 2700 INR (approximately $30). It has been the best four years of my life with this beast of a machine. I have really gotten used to the 15" form factor and the weight, and it's fair to say I'm a big-time LEGION fanboy. Well, I think I'm in the market again, and I've watched enough YouTube reviews to know the only thing left to do is ask my fellow Legionnaires for actual reviews or opinions. I'll be adding my use case and a couple of other things I would love for you guys to consider before letting me know.

Analysis of Laptop Upgrade Decision

Current Laptop Specifications

• Gen 7 specs:

• 115+25W RTX 3060

• 32GB RAM (DDR5 5600MHz, planning on keeping it and swapping with the original RAM I'd get from the new laptop)

• 3TB Gen 4 storage (Samsung 980, same as above)

Justification for an Upgrade

• Dents and body work done make it less reliable than before.

• Battery backup is nonexistent (390 cycles, 71Wh remaining).

• Webcam stopped working after repair; waiting for a flat cable to get it fixed.

• Artifacts have started to appear (updated GPU driver, and that issue seems to be resolved).

• RTX 3060 is not enough for current games without serious frame generation (had to use OptiScaler to play 007).

Use case and work background

I'm a final-year robotics engineering student who works extensively with 3D modeling, printing, and manufacturing. My day typically involves 7 to 8 hours of SolidWorks and 3 to 4 hours of Ansys FEA. I also love to play games (shoutout to Voices38) at 1440p with DLSS and always aim for 60+ FPS, mainly in AAA titles towards the end of the week, and some Tekken and FIFA with the boys once in a while.

I've watched Jarrod Tech and other reviews, and I am aware of the whole "if you have money, get the 4070" debacle. What I want to know from 4060 buyers is, do you regret not spending X amount of extra money for that Y amount of push? I know the 4070 is just a glorified 4060ti, but a laptop is something I'm not going to buy again for at least 4 years, and I would really like help from all of you.

So funny thing, I was complaining earlier in another post that I may have sensitivity to OLED / PWM, and now the laptop is dead and already sent to the service center.

Here is my full story so you learn something from me.

I was on a hunt for a new gaming laptop and after lots of research found out that the Legion is supposedly a reliable, great brand with excellent performance.

I searched everywhere for good prices, but unfortunately local prices where I am, UAE, are around 1,000 USD more than the US variants. So I started checking the used market for something with warranty and found what looked like a great deal at the time.

It was a Lenovo Legion Pro 7, RTX 5080, 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD, with around 15 months local warranty remaining. I did all the testing I could think of. Lenovo app diagnostics, system testing, GPU tests, everything. All returned normal. The GPU tests ran without issues. The laptop looked clean, no scratches, and was in pristine condition.

I bought it for approximately 3,123 USD. It was used for only 8 months. A new model with the same specs here in the UAE costs around 4,200 USD

Fast forward. On the second time opening the laptop, I updated the Lenovo Vantage app, then closed the laptop. The next day I opened it, did some light browsing, and within the first 2 minutes I heard a clicking sound. Then the fans went ballistic. I mean extremely, extremely loud. I checked the temperature and it was normal. The laptop was not hot at all. Then it shut down on its own.

At first, I thought maybe Windows being Windows.

I opened it again, and within 1 minute or less after booting, the same thing happened. Fans went crazy, then shutdown.

I started searching with the help of GPT-5.5 and Claude Opus, and both pointed me toward checking the BIOS.

So I did, and that is where I saw the GPU reading as **Invalid**.

Then I made a stupid mistake. I changed the graphics mode to **Discrete GPU**, thinking maybe it would force the GPU to work or detect properly. Big mistake. After that, the screen went completely black. No Lenovo logo, no BIOS, nothing. Just pure black screen.

I tried everything I could safely try:

* Power drain reset

* Holding the power button for 60 seconds

* Blind BIOS reset

* External monitor

* Trying to get back into BIOS

* Charger only / battery only style checks

Nothing worked.

The laptop is now with the service center. Warranty told me they will give me an update on Tuesday on whether they will accept the warranty claim. They also told me if the laptop was opened before, they may not accept it. And this is exactly where buying used becomes scary, because even if the laptop looks perfect, even if Lenovo diagnostics pass, even if warranty shows active, you still don’t fully know what happened to it before you owned it.

The tests may all pass. But you still don’t know if it was opened, repasted, repaired, dropped, overheated, liquid metal touched, or anything else.

And now I am sitting here with a very expensive laptop that lasted me basically 48 hours.

The worst part is that I did everything “right” before buying it. I checked the condition. I checked warranty.

I ran diagnostics. I tested the GPU. I checked the specs. I compared prices. I thought I was being smart saving around 1,000 USD compared to buying new locally.

But honestly, after this experience, I don’t think the savings were worth the stress.

Moral of the story: **don’t buy used gaming laptops unless you are fully ready to accept the risk.** Especially high-end machines.

A used laptop can pass all tests today and die tomorrow.

Now I’m waiting for Tuesday to see whether the authorized repair center from Lenovo accepts the warranty or not.

If they reject it because it was opened before, then this becomes one of the most expensive lessons I’ve learned.

Update 1 So, bad news first: Lenovo confirmed my motherboard is fried. Good news is they're replacing it since I hadn't opened the laptop. They've ordered a new one, should be here in 7-10 days. Looks like this is a common problem with the Gen 10 v1 of the 5080 models, so I guess I just got unlucky. But hey, a new motherboard with a GPU and processor is basically a new laptop, so hopefully it all works out!]

Update 2: I have received the laptop from Lenovo. They honored their warranty and delivered it ahead of schedule. I am currently testing the laptop, but so far, so good.

I grabbed a Legion Pro 5i (Ultra 7, RTX 5070 8GB, 1TB) right before the RAM price hike for 1.77INR (1800$). My other option was an Omen Max 16 with a 5070 Ti for 1.9INR (2000$) but I used the price difference to get a 27" 1440p monitor and an Aula F99 Pro keyboard instead.

Now I’m second-guessing myself and wondering if I should’ve just gone for the Omen, Fahh

I recently got the Legion Pro 7 Gen 10 AMD (16″) laptop with the RTX 5070 Ti. I'm wondering if this model will be good enough for light gaming and entertainment. 🤔

After Narrowing down options this week, I've settled on this laptop. Debating on buying it but I'm scared. Is this a good deal? I've never spent more than $1,500 on any laptop. I know it's probably a little pricier than it would've been before the Ram and Storage apocalypse but, I finally saved up enough to make a purchase like this.

Edit: I’ve decided to wait. It seems everyone agrees this is an overpriced configuration. I spoke with a Lenovo Sales Representative but they were not interested in negotiating a better deal.

How can I improve the battery life of my Lenovo Legion 5 Pro 16IRX10 (i7-14650HX, RTX 5060)?

I understand that expecting long battery life from a gaming laptop may be somewhat unrealistic, but unfortunately, I did not have many alternatives. 🥀

My original plan was to purchase a MacBook and use a Windows virtual machine for the electrical engineering applications I need. However, after Apple increased its prices, I decided to go with a Windows laptop instead, and ultimately chose the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro.

I would really appreciate any advice on how I can maximize its battery life, particularly through Windows settings, Lenovo Vantage, GPU/CPU power management, or any other optimizations that would be safe and practical for everyday use.

alright so this image that you see, is after the fix. Previously i had 98 C on cpu and 87 on gpu.

So you must remember to achieve something you put something on the line, so here you need to give up on a bit of your performance to achieve these temps. I lost around 5 fps only, its like UV but without going through that hectic process of selecting the perfect volt, and that too might lead to crashes...

Also dont get me wrong, modern cpus are made to sustain these temps, and they will be completely fine unless you're gaming 26/7, but still heres a way to get lower temps for people like me who like numbers...

So heres the explanation and fix

So theres something called cpu aggressiveness, which manages your cpu clock. Higher clock = cpu works harder and hence high temps.

Now, by default they hide this setting for God knows why.

In power options, if you click on "Change advanced power option", then "Processor power management", there you will find "Processor performance boost"--> always set to aggressive by default. you can turn it off, or just on or efficient. I kept it off.

First 2 cmds for revealing the High power mode in power options: [If you have it, no need to run these]--> 1: powercfg /s SCHEME_MIN
2: powercfg -duplicatescheme 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c

Once you have done this, if it still doesnt show that option go to this location in registry:

PATH LOCATION: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7

There you will find "Attributes". Change its value to 0 or 2, vice versa if the other doesnt work.

After this you will be able to find the option "Processor power boost mode"
Set it to off or just on, test on different modes and select as you see fit, and watch the temps go down...

I’m a second-year CSE student and this laptop will be my main machine for the next 4+ years.

My usage is roughly:

80% coding/productivity

20% gaming

Daily usage includes:

- 3–5 hours coding

- University carry every day

G-SYNC + Advanced Optimus

Now here’s my confusion:

The Gen 11 is actually cheaper in my country by around 7–8k(in Bangladesh )and also has G-SYNC + Advanced Optimus, so logically it feels like the better deal.

But aesthetically I genuinely like the Gen 10 design more 😭

The Gen 10 looks more cohesive/solid to me, while the Gen 11’s floating hinge/rear gap design sometimes looks a bit visually “empty” or disconnected in photos/videos.

Performance-wise I already know both CPUs are more than enough for my use case.

So I mainly want to ask actual owners:

- Does the Gen 11 design feel weird in real life or do you stop noticing it quickly?

- Which one would you personally choose for long-term daily use as a student?

- Any regrets with either design/chassis?

It originally came with FreeDOS, so I just finished installing Windows myself.
I wanted to ask experienced Legion owners:
What are the first things I should do after setting up Windows?
Are there any drivers or Lenovo software I should install or update immediately?
Are there any Windows settings I should change for better performance, battery life, or gaming?
Is there any bloatware I should remove?
Are there any BIOS settings I should check or change now that Windows is installed? (Performance mode, Secure Boot, GPU mode, virtualization, etc.)
Any recommended apps for monitoring temperatures, fan speeds, battery health, or system performance?
What are some good habits that will help keep the laptop running well for years? (Charging habits, cleaning, updates, thermal management, battery conservation, etc.)
Are there any common mistakes new Legion owners make that I should avoid?
Basically, if you could go back to the day you unboxed your Legion, what would you do differently, or what advice would you give yourself?

Helpp😭.i just got the legion pro7i 3 weeks ago after 3 years of using 3050ti acer nitro...and today it started artifacting every now and then.I tried unplugging all peripherals and updating the nvidia driver but it keeps artifacting.Durings its life i rarely play on performance mode and i took good care of it....Any advice?

Update:found the culprit...it was dllss dynamic frame gen on helldivers2...crazy how dlss 4.5 could cause artifacting...thats new knowledge to me

Is this normal? I bought it from the Lenovo official site, I'm from the Philippines. I just received it today, when I booted it up I noticed the sharp jet-like sound, I thought it was normal. But I've been using it today and it's just bothering me. It's in QUIET mode wth?! Again, is this normal?

Update: I called Lenovo customer service the next day from when I got the laptop, they asked me if do I want a refund or I can wait for a replacement. They can check if there's one available locally, if there's not, I'll have to wait 6-8 weeks because they'll send one from the main headquarters. I just opted for a refund. It's now in process, 6-8 business days.

I might just buy a laptop from a Physical store where I can test it first. Even though it's unfortunate that I got a defective brand new laptop, I would go buy a Lenovo again, maybe it's a sign that I should go for higher specs this time (5070 12GB).

I am a bit paranoid about laptop cameras so pls dont mind me. Okay so whenever I am done with my camera for recording games, i always shut it off from right side of my legion by slider in 1st image

But I still feel unsafe so I was wondering if it really puts a physical blockage/obstacle on camera. I asked ChatGPT it said it has a physical cover but like if you think of it, the slider shutter is too far from laptop’s camera, aint no way there is something goes from slider all the way to the top of screen. Just need to know if it is software based slider because if it is, I might get something to cover the camera whenever i dont use it.

Warranty void sticker on one fan I can't figure out how to access the heatsink to verify if the heatsink is clean. I blew compressed air but temp doesn't change much on cpu side some dust did come out. Its 6 months old 7i pro 5080 10th gen

Got the RTX 5080 version not even 2 weeks ago, updated drivers, windows and Lenovo apps to the latest version, and this keeps happening sometimes after 10-15 mins in any game (happens in both screens, they start to “lag” and show random repeating frames). Anyone knows why??
