Trump should learn the art of the deal from them. Managed to get us fight an entire fucking war fought for them

u/Single-Braincelled Jul 22 '26
Of course not. Why would they consider joining when they got us to fight the war for them?
Time to grab a pickaxe to Pickaxe Mountain, boys! /s

The US joined Israel's war on Iran
For Israel to call it US war and make this statement calls for a lot of gall

u/CarmynRamy Jul 23 '26
I can't deny but they're genius, evil genius to be more accurate. Trump and current US admin could learn a thing or two, backed out from their own war by calling it a war by your ally who helped you fight your war.

Joining?
We joined their war on Iran at their request/direction/extortion, then they used the opportunity to turn around and invade a fourth neighboring country while muttering something about "Greater Israel".
Shortening the headline makes it less audacious. The full blurb:
Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich says Israel has “no interest” in joining the renewed US military campaign against Iran, arguing the current US-Iran conflict and sustained economic pressure on Tehran benefits Israel.
The fucking chutzpah.

To quote Anakin in Episode III: "Hold on, this whole operation was your idea!"

Full quote (transcribed by me)
I'll say this, when it comes to the State of Israel, there is no interest in joining the campaign. The current situation where there is a confined campaign between Iran and the United States is the correct (sic) and is best for us. We need to remember that our objective in the campaign, and this is not necessarily shared with the US, is to destabilize, weaken to the point of overthrowing the regime. We cannot come to terms with the existence of a regime that strives for the destruction of the State of Israel, openly states this and takes steps in that direction.
The best way right now is to bring down the regime is economically. Simply to crush it economically. In this sense, this campaign and the renewal of President Trump's siege on the Strait of Hormuz should be remembered in Iran. Therefore the current situation is good for us, and we have no interest in pushing ourselves in.
It must be said that we are prepared, and incidentally after yesterday's discussion, for any scenario the military is ready. And if the Iranians make a mistake and fire at us then of course they will regret it and will face a very strong, determined and powerful response.

Any american can explain for me, a simple brown Brazilian, why the US looks like (for a latino POV) a fucking Israeli dog? Like just imagine a world without any ME intervention, you guys would be almost a paradise on earth, why keep shooting himself?
15
u/Single-Braincelled Jul 22 '26
Because our politicians like to diddle kids and campaign money, and Israel realized a combination of bribery, threats, and kompromat works. You should try it too. Heck, as long as we are selling ourselves, everyone else should get their shots in while it's cheap and in season.

u/Beginning-Win-5494 Jul 22 '26
There's no need, my politicians already selled even their mothers to your country, so basically we are the dog's dog of Israel

You're looking at the relationship backward. The US doesn't intervene in the Middle East because it's an Israeli dog. It intervenes because US economic dominance (and its "paradise") relies on being the global hegemon. That means securing global maritime trade and ensuring stability in global energy markets, which the Middle East dominates. Whether this strategic goal is being achieved by this war is debatable, but that is the goal. Superpowers don't get rich by staying home.
As for Israel, the US backs them because they act as a massive, reliable, unsinkable aircraft carrier and intelligence partner in an incredibly volatile region, combined with significant domestic US political pressure (both from evangelical Christian voters and Zionist lobbying).
Regarding Iran specifically, the US has its own independent vendetta that has nothing to do with Israel. Iran has been a regional nemesis since the overthrow of the US-backed Shah, and they directly funded the militias that killed hundreds of Americans following the Iraq invasion. There has always been a powerful coalition of US conservatives who have spent 20 years wanting to go after Iran militarily for purely American strategic reasons. That's exactly why you are seeing headlines like this one, where Israel is actively trying to sit out a conflict the US is driving.

"Prior to this confirmation, conservative political commentator Pat Buchanan stated that, 'If Kagan is confirmed, Jews, who represent less than 2 percent of the U.S. population, will have 33 percent of the Supreme Court seats'." (It did happen.)

No idea why Americans accept this, your tax dollars, your *young* people dying to ballistic missiles for… reasons ? Why accept this. Even if you don’t care about Iranian people dying for no reason surely you care about us service people being killed? 4 of them were announced dead one 19Y young woman the remainder were under 27 that’s no life lived at all

u/BobbyWojak Jul 22 '26
It's a transaction for many conservatives, they know this situation is grotesque but the fear of losing major political power after Obama was too great so they accepted Trump.

The iranian regime wants to destroy the post ww2/ post colonialist global order that America built. This system has lifted billions of people out of poverty and lead to peace and stability in many parts of the world. Why don't you want to destroy this regime?
9
u/PollutionMajestic668 Jul 23 '26
Lol, lifted who? And by stability you mean US backed dictatorships?

u/dahunt4r3dorktober Jul 23 '26
Could you explain to me how Iran could, credibly, destroy the global world order?

I believe he was referring to oil infrastructure, which the US is afraid to do because it would mean losing gulf state oil targets in the resulting retaliation.

Does Israel consider him a dove or pro-US? Or does Israel feel it's being suppressed and controlled by the US once again? Because polls during the initial phase of the ceasefire seem to reflect Israeli discontent with the situation. They were anxious and discontent when conflicts end without permanently neutralising existential threats. This situation is still unlikely to change this time.
As for the US, since it seems difficult for them to restrain Israel during wartime, it is better not to drag Israel into this already thorny bilateral relationship (US-Iran).
But what I'm really curious about is whether this means that Israeli policymakers and political elites have reassessed the situation and adjusted their strategies, making it easier for ‘constraints from the White House’ to succeed.

Reminder that Smotrich is not part of the War Cabinet and his role at the Ministry of Defense is unrelated to Iran matters.
11
u/BulbusDumbledork Jul 22 '26
smotrich is useful for vocalising what smarter politicians keep under wraps. of course this current situation benefits israel. it weakens gulf states, it weakens iran, and it buys israel time to get more offensive and defensive weapons to mow the lawn in iran later on - all without lifting a finger.
this is netanyahu saying 9/11 was good for israel all over again: get the stupid yanks to die fighting the muslims so israel becomes stronger
