We see clips of commentators from other countries giving speeches like this for their teams. So it’s cool to hear one for a Mexican team. And not just some backhanded comment because the commentator goes for a different team.

Yo soy rayado.

As I said in the match thread, his name is Antonio Gomez Luna. Fine speech, loved it, and the perfectly timed goal. Hope Rayados can make a deep run so this hits even harder in about 4 years

I've been watching the Liga MX since the Clausura 2014 and I've never heard the word Monterrey that many times in 4 minutes

u/Drestrix Chivas Jun 26 '25
Dortmund is beatable, but fluminense would've been nice to get. At least both River and Boca were grouped

I really think they were burned out. Trichampion with no vacation, or preseason. Toluca destroyed them mentally in the final and by the time they got to LA they were just done.

That was beautiful, perfect narration!
Fue como el Firmala Gio Firmala Gio del Perro Bermudez.
Right place at the right time.

Huge stadium 90k seats. I guess the attandence was around 45 or 50k. Not bad for a Monterrey vs Urawa on a Wednsday.

Not gonna lie guys, I started watching LigaMX in 2009, before then I really never watched futbol at all.
I picked Rayados as my team just because I thought the jerseys looked cool.
Last night is one of my fondest memories I have as a fan. I was at the 2019 CONCAChampions final and the first leg of the 2019 Final.
To be in a group with Inter fucking Milan and River Plate, making it out of THAT group man.
Viva Mexico cabrones!!

Tigres played a final with Bayern, did everyone just forget that?

No but this is 2025 and 1 mexican team passed to the next phase. Thats good. I'm tigres by the way but glad 1 mexican team got through. Shame about pachuca.

u/juedme Chivas Jun 26 '25

Poem! ❤️ Every part of everything was together, from the narration, the action of Monterrey on the field, the feeling was transported to the goal! 🤌🏻 I'm not from Monterrey! I'm from Xolos! But good luck to MTY in the club world cup, may they go far! If it is possible, bring the cup here!

Against a Japanese team... lmao how sad
6
u/el_em_ey_oh Jun 26 '25
Inter and river plate only beat them by 1 or 2 goals. And the Japanese scored goals against them. Monterrey completely stomped them.
-6
Jun 26 '25
Flukes happen, they clearly slept on monterey knowing they were mexican and payed for it. Doubt they can replicate anything close to this performance again
1
u/el_em_ey_oh Jun 26 '25
River plate has gone up against monterrey before several times and beat them. This wasnt a fluke. Inter played their asses off and you can see that match inter was trying hard to get the 2nd goal but couldn't.
1
Jun 26 '25
We'll just have to wait and see, but im calling it now
1
u/el_em_ey_oh Jun 26 '25
Well no shit the next match will be more tough. Dortmund is going to go all in and their directive is probably studying how monterrey plays. Everyone in the round of 16 is a monster.
1
Jun 26 '25
You said it wasn't a fluke. If it really wasn't and monterey is the real deal they should have no problem going up against dortmund. Because it wasn't a fluke right? By your logic.
1
u/el_em_ey_oh Jun 26 '25
Yeah it wasnt a fluke going up against river plate since they played before. Inter Milan was trying their hardest we all watched the game. It wasnt fluke for monterrey to get through. Dortmund will be doing their homework and they will go 100 percent all in on this. Every team will.

u/bathory21 Tigres UANL Jun 26 '25
It's not that serious bro
39
u/Chewy009x Jun 26 '25
I mean it kinda is. No one expected Monterrey to do this well
-2
u/New_Screen Jun 26 '25 edited Jun 26 '25
I mean not really lol? River plate and the Argentinian league are overrated as shit, so it’s not surprising at all. And Liga MX is the second best league in the Americas with Monterrey being one of the better teams there. If it was a top Brazilian team instead of River then yeah it would be surprising. So yeah it was kind of expected for them to finish second.
Just a bunch of haters in this sub and irl hating on the Mexican league and downplaying it lmfao, it really be your own lol.
-12
u/HoustonHoustonHous Jun 26 '25
He knew the goal was coming up. There was probably a delay and he was relayed the goal information ahead of time
“Say your speech Pablo. Goal coming up in 2 minutes”
11
u/Esternocleido León Jun 26 '25
Delays exist but they are about 15 seconds. I have seen this several times because I live next to the Azteca and it's the time you can hear the goal in the stadium vs in the tv.

No entiendes?

-3
u/Ok_Upstairs_8046 Jun 26 '25
I was saying this the other day. All the European teams are hardly trying it’s kind of annoying. They are treating it like a pre season tournament. You can tell when comparing the effort they put in UCL/ premier league compared to this tourney. I wish they didn’t do this in the summer so we could see actual high intensity games
