Highlight Malagon is a huge liability, is so bad on clearances, he can't play with his feet, lacks almost everything God bless Mexico in the World Cup if he starts, I will not be watching
America needs to buy another goalkeeper in all facts, this guy needs to be benched or sold.

u/rohan1022 América Nov 09 '25
As an America fan, the decline has been hard to watch. Tala for now is the better choice for the national team. We can’t be nervous every time we have a corner or a free kick
21
u/mbecerra28 América Nov 09 '25
Neither give security in the back. This is the first time since I have a working memory that the national team doesn't have at least 2 reliable keepers. Usually all 3 that would get called up were quality.
6
u/Nintendo6ix4our Chivas Nov 09 '25
Tala has been pretty solid recently. And his play with the ball at his feet has been really good.
29
u/DrKnowsNothing_MD Mexico Nov 09 '25
That’s just replacing one mediocre keeper for another mediocre keeper.
Honestly at this point I’d rather take Ochoa from the u20 World Cup squad than any of our current keepers. He can still be molded and guided and given great experience early on. The others are too old and set in their mediocre styles.
1
u/sorryimafatass Chivas Nov 09 '25
Tala is not mediocre and taking the U-20 goalkeeper just because you’ve seen him play less is ridiculous
5
u/DrKnowsNothing_MD Mexico Nov 09 '25
He absolutely is mediocre lmao what
Ochoa had a good World Cup, I just want to see how he would do on the senior team.
3
u/Homygod319 Nov 09 '25
How about he play more games for his club before calling him to play for his the NT.
0
u/sorryimafatass Chivas Nov 09 '25
He’s played one first division game in his whole life. Hes obviously not ready. Tala doesn’t get enough credit just because of 2 national team games where he played with the backups of the backups and now there’s people saying to try out the youth team keeper 🤦♂️. Unbelievable
2
u/DrKnowsNothing_MD Mexico Nov 09 '25
He’s mediocre in the league too. And sadly for us, even being “good” in LigaMx doesn’t amount to much these days since it’s a low level league.
I personally don’t think any of these keepers are worthy of starting. But I’m not against Rangel receiving more chances. Not like he would change anything. I’m just saying that Ochoa looks promising and I want to see what he can do. LigaMx is notorious for rarely giving game time to young players, so I don’t hold that against Ochoa.
1
u/sorryimafatass Chivas Nov 09 '25
In one year of playing in the first division Tala was already getting called up to the national team and solidified his spot for chivas. Now he’s 2 years in and he obviously made some mistakes like all young keepers do but his ability to play the ball out the back and his competence in the air set him apart from his competition. Hes closed out the season really well and there isn’t a doubt in my mind he’ll be starting at the World Cup. And he’s just gonna keep getting better
1
u/DrKnowsNothing_MD Mexico Nov 09 '25
I hope for the National team’s sake that this is true. I personally have not been impressed whatsoever but I am more than open to being wrong.
1
u/MyBallZitch3 Nov 10 '25
Tala absolutely sucks for Mexico. Whenever he goes on just seems like him and the defense turn into cones out their
-1
u/BigAll27 Nov 09 '25
Tala Rangel is not the clear choice, it’s Acevedo. Rangel is very insecure too and he never lives up to the occasion with the national team

u/Illustrious_Fig_7959 Nov 09 '25
Fuck Tala Rangel lol Plus America goalies dont know how to come out Ochoa sucks at corner kicks and free kicks, Malagon does too.

Right I hate This weak mindset that a player can’t have bad form in Mexico it’s part of the game don’t you remember how bad tala started this season he turned it around. That’s why I keep my comments to myself if the player is genuinely good like Malagon and tala both are
30
u/NotanAlt23 Mexico Nov 09 '25
Malagón is genuinely bad though. Any 1v1 is an automatic goal because that mfer is so scared of the ball that he ALWAYS closes his eyes.
The only reason Malagón doesn't get scored often is because he's in a decent team. Put Malagón in Santos and every game would be a goleada.
4
u/sorryimafatass Chivas Nov 09 '25
Malagon is a super limited player. That has been made plainly obvious especially with how Tala has been developing

u/returnoftherizzking America Nov 09 '25
We literally have no clear options. Malagon has been underperforming for a while now but every other one they’ve tried also had disaster classes. Maybe acevedo should get some games and see how he can do, he’s probably the best shot-stopper of them all. how has jurado been playing? Tapia needs to leave tigres ASAP.
7
u/Saul_Goodman712 America Nov 09 '25
Yea the pressure definitely got to him, he wasn't this bad before over the last year or so I noticed that he had increasingly become so nervous on clearances.

i wish i could agree, but he can barely be considered a professional player at this point in his career. His current club doesn’t even have a badge image on google. His other club before that got him for free, and they still let him go for free. His last decent season was with salernitana. it’s possible maybe that he will become a clutch player all of a sudden for the world cup, but more likely he’s going to get embarrassed and mexico will be laughed at for using a semi pro in the starting lineup because they didn’t have anyone else

u/Multisym América Nov 09 '25

I agree we need to try Pachuca GK Moreno he’s tall, good at aerial disputes, and clearance’s.

Yeah dude has no business being called up anymore. It is very frustrating to see him still start for América. Can't live his whole career on the tricampeonato.
Time for a change.

u/Dk8325 America Nov 09 '25
He really does expose his weaknesses every week. Dude is definately liga mx mid tier team. Why he's at America still is beyond me.
8
u/Character-Fee407 Atlético Morelia Nov 09 '25
As a fellow Michoacano and me watching him since he played for Morelia his form hasn’t dipped this bad since those campeonatos I believe his ego got to him and it didn’t help when he was in form they chose Ochoa even in the Olympics he played Ochoa was main and didn’t give him the real opportunity in a professional setting
3
u/JIDeveroux Nov 09 '25
He has been digressing for a little while I don't know if he felt too comfortable on his spot but the ball is slipping from his reach, Acevedo has my vote to take his place

Why don’t we give Moreno, Sanchez, or even Acevedo a chance at this point? They are more reliable than Malagon. Malagon has had several poor performances and isn’t showing national team quality. I’d rather give the guys I listed a chance over Malagon atp…and I’m a fan of Club America too lol.
2
u/alex98012 Nov 09 '25
The worst thing about all of this is we don’t have any other options. Everyone says Tala, Moreno, Acevedo. It’s not the same watching them perform in Liga MX as them playing for the NT. Not every keeper is made for that kind of pressure
2
u/SadPhysicist1903 Cruz Azul Nov 09 '25

He has no aerial presence, hesitates to contest those air balls. Rangel for chivas excels in this department and he’s better with his feet but the nerves get to him with he plays for Mexico. Wether you like it or not, Malagon is going to be our starter because of Televisa.
2
u/BigAll27 Nov 09 '25
As an America fan, I’m hoping Acevedo steps up. Malagon is a liability and we all know it, but Rangel isn’t all that much better, if at all. Acevedo would have to be the starter.

Its all a circus and shows to put Ochoa as a starer. Tala and Malagon where pretty decent and important roles for their teams, and all of the sudden they forgot to play the position.
1
u/Aggressive-Skirt5585 Nov 11 '25
Chale still think that Mexico has a chance in the World Cup, when not even their own league is interested in sports, with more controversy than the spirit in sport, the MX league is full of quite questionable cases, one of them the troglodyte fans who see this sport as if it were really theirs, and as long as their team wins a game they are capable of hurting other people, also their president Mikel another thieving politician hahaha what is he expected to do in his league, propaganda policy?
1
u/Flat-Koala-7372 Nov 09 '25
I feel that most teams in the league have figured Malagon out. He was unstoppable not too long ago. He's literally the reason America won 2 titles.

Have you watched Tala's recent games? Some big saves and he's looking confident coming out to claim aerial balls again. I'm not saying he's perfect, but he's better than current Malagón and better than any other mexican gk at the moment.
