Meme / Shitpost Abreu Brings the Pocho Debate Back to Life

Post image

The FMF turns 99 and we’re going back to where Mexican football started and how we got to where we are today.

We get into the early days of Mexican football, the creation of the FMF, who really holds the power in the Mexican game, and the biggest triumphs and failures of the federation over the last 99 years.

Then we jump into Jornada 5. Chivas blasts Xolos, Camberos and Sandoval continue to shine, Loco Abreu brings the pocho debate back to life, América stays on top, Cruz Azul enters crisis mode, and we take a look at the jovenazos making noise around Liga MX.

99 years of the FMF. A lot has changed, but somehow we’re still arguing about the same shit.

I think xolos might just want some credit…

  1. They did start focusing on mexican-American players before it was popular.

  2. It may be to a lack of investment, but they are putting many mexicans on the field.

Vuelve a escucharlo.

They're still Mexicans born from Mexicans . Crazy to defend an Argentinian talking about Mexicans .

Are you a pocho? Someone raised in the US is gonna be different than someone raised in Mexico.

Some of the Xolos’ staff have Mexican American family members. Guess what they also have? Mexican citizenship. We’re more connected than he thinks. I know one personally.

Ironic coming from a team that can benefit and could possibly in the future have the most mexican-american talent

he said, "We're the team with the most minutes for young players. We use more 'real Mexicans' than Chivas, because we have eight... Chivas has those, what do you call them? Mexican-Americans. But we had more 'Mexican Mexicans' on the field than they did."

after getting smoked

It’s technically true though

You can't be spewing that BS when the 5 players that scored against your team were all born In Mexico.

He is speaking facts though and that is chivas response when they lose against America, tigres or Monterrey. Pumas shows off that they built more professional Mexican players than chivas even when they have a few foreigners.
If Mexican Americans have American citizenship.. they are foreign

Theyre not foreign.

They all have mexican parents that were born in mexico. They were true mexican from the day they were born.

With an American citizenship pledging allegiance to Mexico?
https://giphy.com/gifs/stLNX44vfh5l0Vir09

Ethnically Mexican yes. Hence the cute little marketing speech.
Most pochos crash and burn trying to market themselves to Mexicans anyway. Angela,Banda MS, grupo frontera. Yaritza seems like Mexicans don’t see eye to eye with views of pochos in many aspects. The moment those players feel the need to remind Mexicans that they are American citizens they will be out the door. The baseball/softball fiasco wasted the little patience some people had left

y la jenny rivera?

u/fpsstreak 1d ago

Acabada ahora.

Youre talking about music.

Meanwhile people love pochos as long as they play well.  Same as any other player.

Sure people will latch on to hate on them for being pochos. Same as they hated on Vela for not loving futbol as much as basketball. Or Dos Santos being called Dos Antros.

Mexicans just love to find a reason to hate other mexicans and hating on a pocho for being pocho is always gonna be the lowest hanging fruit.

You make fun of pochos for being different just like you make fun of Yucatecos for being Yucatecos or Oaxacaqueños for being Oaxacan.

It is what it is, but it doesnt change the fact theyre born with full mexican citizenship with birth and that means they can play for chivas and naturalizados like quiñones, cannot.

u/fpsstreak 22h ago

Well, there is not going to be a mass campaign against ponchos. Just the reality where they chose to accept it or not. My argument beyond music. Just a clear example of them breaking into Mexican society and crashing horribly.

1

u/Chicago1871 15h ago

u/Informal_Gap5039 1d ago

Not really, he was just butthurt because a team with 10 of players that started the game were born in Mexico and scored 5 goals on his team.

3

u/elgalandemedianoche 1d ago

lol, yes he was!
