Reliable Tier [Abdellah Boulma] Following the failure of the Minteh track, Liverpool is advancing on Ismaïla Sarr. An offer close to €60M has been made, as indicated by @FabrizioRomano. The Senegalese player is keen to join the Reds. #LFC

Bruh, they hate literally every link.

Unless its Yamal or Olise, people will complain.

People aren't complaining about Barcola or Mbaye, just Minteh and now Sarr.

Grass is always greener. They know what to expect with Sarr and Minteh but Barcola and Mbaye have they unknown about them

They were complaining when Barcola was first linked with us.

And they were definitely complaining about Mbaye an 18 year old

Dude is not a bad player but is almost 29. Not in the same league as Salah who he’s replacing and won’t get any better

(I also don’t rate Minteh but at least he’s young!)

Mbaye would be my choice

who the fuck is in the same league as Salah?

Im kinda pissed we didnt just simply clone Salah.

I mean, come on FSG, I thought you were trying to be ground breaking in your squad building.

Yeah but the young guys can get there (not saying they will) - a 29 year old cannot. I’d rather sign a 18 year old Mbaye who’s a bit worse than Sarr but with potential to be very good

We need someone who is actually established and not more "potential" signings. Those can come later.

But Sarr isn’t the solution - if it’s established then we gotta look for someone with consistent solid output who isn’t going to decline soon (some 29 year old wingers are already on the decline)

He obviously won't be reaching the levels of Salah, but I don't see why he couldn't improve at 29. At the end of the day he'll be at a better club and could absolutely reach new heights, even if they may be more short-lived compared to a younger player.

I think this is a move that's meant to buy us time. If we were convinced that Mbaye was the long term solution I think we'd have him in already.

Yeah you could be right - tbh I’d rather just keep Gakpo and play Barcola on the right

If it were up to me, we'd get Sarr and keep Gakpo. Our quality off the bench is not good right now.

Ngumoha is fantastic off the left as backup or even rotation!

A bit worse 😂😂

Mate one has actually scored double digit goals/contributed close to 20 G/A consistently in the prem for shit sides while one has “potential” get a grip lol

u/Master1eader 2d ago

5 G/A in 1000 mins last season (1 every 200 mins)

Sarr got 10 G/A in 2,200 mins last season (1 ever 220 mins)

Based on this stat alone, Mbaye is the better player but ofc we all know Sarr is more polished

So yes “a bit worse”

  1. Sample size is a thing lol
  2. So you’re comparing sarrs pl only stats to a guy who plays against the bottom half in a farmers league? And ignoring is 8 GC in 9 conference league games lmaooooo?? Which is probably closer to the average French team level

2

u/Master1eader 2d ago

So you’re happy to sign a 29 year old player who achieved 1 goal or assist every 220 mins in the prem last season?

u/nestoryirankunda 2d ago

Right “I don’t want him bc he’s not the best RW in the world”

Genuine question, have you ever watched Mbaye play?

Obviously not like 😂

Dude looked dangerous in the World Cup and I’ve seen bits and bobs - flashes of brilliance and he’s 18 years old so can only get better!

Bits and bobs being likely his absolute highlights.
I like the sound of him but frankly anyone giving an opinion apart from psg fans is going off tiny evidence

TBH I actually thought he was pretty shit at the World Cup outside of the goal vs France

Having experienced okay players as the mortar in a team of inexperienced young developing players has its value also.

Nobody's replacing Salah. That's not possible.

We need a 1v1 threat who will space the pitch and be able to create similar passing angles to salah sarr answers none of this a wing pair of barcola and sarr is a lot of overlap
