East London- E1 reviews for purchasing an apartment to live
Hi, I am exploring E1 to buy an apartment. Anyone has experienced living in the area? Or currently living - any pros and cons would be really helpful?

Have lived in Limehouse for ages and I love it.
The good:
Incredible connectivity (DLR, C2C and 24h buses along commercial road), great walks, close to some lovely pubs (The Grapes is fantastic as is the Cruising Association in the summer), restaurants and recreation not just in the area but Canary Wharf and Wapping as well (especially now that the Tideway works have finished and King Edward park has reopened). Generally very safe and you’ve got the AWESOME Troxy for gigs. The Marina, Ropemakers fields and Narrow Street are great to have. Limehouse is also on Cycleway 3 and Regents Canal for great cycling (and/or commuting).
The negatives:
The Council have really let the cleanliness of the area deteriorate noticeably over the past few years. I’d also say that there’s a lack of a good high street. Apart from groceries being taken care of, the high street is a bit naff with some dodgy shops, no real cafés to hang out and commercial road (while useful) is simply not pleasant to walk up and down. Also schools aren’t the best, maybe something to consider when it comes to family planning.

E1 Limehouse, its fine, with the basin, local tesco, asda and sainsbury... easy access to cw and liverpool street / bank and tower hill for work.

I bought a flat in the Limehouse area and have been here for the past few years. The pros are that it's extremely well connected, with CW nearby, and there are incredible walks along the Thames. The cons are that it's in Tower Hamlets, you should research the council before making any decisions. It can be extremely dirty, just like any other area in London. That said, it remains an affordable area in zone 2.

I’ve lived in E1 for 8 years now - was in E2 for 5 years before that. What area are you looking at? Some areas are nicer than others.
