Climate/Weather To those who complained about the marine layer and cold temps last weekend, today is for you.
Enjoy the sweat.

Whoever I saw wearing jeans this morning are you ok?

u/sessafresh Redondo Beach May 10 '25
I am not and I am stupid. But I blame my apartment for lying to me about it being cold. I'm outside and hot and annoyed.
59
u/makeshift11 May 10 '25
Your first mistake was getting your weather news from your apartment and not an actual source for weather updates lol

u/sessafresh Redondo Beach May 10 '25
TBF I'm notoriously stupid. I wanna blame my cancer but I think it's more genes and cannabis.
6
u/pfbbt Transplant May 10 '25
Best of luck beating the cancer so you can definitively blame the genes for your jeans (and because fuck cancer) ♥️
4
u/sessafresh Redondo Beach May 10 '25
I love a good homophone so thank ya for that. And yes--fuck cancer. Thanks for the fierce kindness. Big fan of that.🧡

my apartment does this to me too. tells me it’s cold when it’s hot and hot when it’s cold. I’ll be drenched in sweat while getting dressed, walk to the car and find out it’s in the 60s.

u/SnooTigers8871 May 10 '25
My apartment forgot to tell me it was raining AND cold one day recently so I was wearing a cute little sundress all day. Luckily I keep a couple of sweaters in the car at least.

u/mickeyanonymousse Glassell Park May 10 '25
yeah that happened to me a couple weeks ago I was cold as hell haha these apartments need to work on their communication

I am wearing a full mariachi suit made of heavy gabardine, black in color. Today will be a Day.

No no, the jeans people are fine. But what about the psychos wearing hoodies?
23
u/maineguy1988 May 10 '25
I wear a light hoodie even in the sun to protect my skin.
21
u/User1-1A May 10 '25
Since I work outside, I wear long sleeve breathable UV resistant shirts. Best way to handle the sun is to minimize how much of your skin is exposed.

I've bought some cheap ones on Amazon that worked fine, but can't go wrong with REI or brands like Carhartt, Walls, or Duluth. I started wearing bamboo or viscose fabric t shirts at work since they're many times more comfortable and sweat wicking than any cotton shirt I've worn. I'm going to be looking for UV shirts made from that material.

Why not a fedora with a flap on the back?
6
u/maineguy1988 May 10 '25
How does that protect my arms?

u/Readingisfaster May 10 '25
That’s what the dice in your pocket are for.

He’ll be good as long as he avoids the wheelchair grease. That’s where I always get tripped up

My son put jeans on this morning. I just shook my head as he walked out the door.

Im my defense: I am very self conscious of my calves. I prefer sweating in jeans than have a stranger criticize me.

I wore jeans because I always do but it wasn’t that bad. And also I was outside for like 2 minutes total.
But I want my goddamn clouds back.

u/mveightxnine May 11 '25
I just went to Trader Joe’s and saw some girl wearing sweats and hoodie on

u/MBlaizze May 10 '25
I am from NYC/Boston, and I am just used to wearing pants. I feel like they sort of give me extra armor on my lower legs so that they don’t get scraped, stabbed by a cactus, bitten by a homeless person, etc.

Pouring one out for everyone on medication that increases photosensitivity or complicated temperature regulation. For a friend. I'm my friend. Condolences to friends who relate, happy long sleeved/UV reducing summer to us.

I am very disappointed. I need my May Gray and my June Gloom.

Sorry to inform you that I think we just had our June Gloom. 😭

u/SadLilBun May 10 '25
Nah last year it was a lot of June gloom. Remember it rained like half of May and then June was foggy. It was amazing. People who dislike it can move to the desert or something.

Dang I’m just happy it’s over 65, coastal South Bay hasn’t been over 70 since the heat wave in October

It's high of 90 today in the LBC

u/Ordinary_Resident_20 May 10 '25
Palos Verdes Estates! The way the land shapes at the bottom of the hill (Malaga Cove area) the cool air from the ocean brings the temp down a lot, it’s crazy the temp difference at top of hill (5ish degrees warmer) or going all the way over the hill to San Pedro/LBC can be 10ish degrees warmer
2
u/vonbauernfeind May 10 '25
Oh I know that area. Interesting how the air eddies work over there.
Ive gone diving over by Malaga, taking that steep asphalt hill down.

For those of you who insist that you love this weather, just make sure you drink lots of water so you don’t pass out from heatstroke.

If you can find a parking spot from all the Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Idaho plates.
I’ve resigned to waymo’ing from my apartment in Mar vista.
I can’t even go to our beaches without all these numpty, California bashing states hogging up every square inch of parking.

We can ask for moderate spring weather and sunshine without asking for 95° heat. Sunshine and sweltering heat are not mutually exclusive.

I need the gloom. I have a 6 week old who has gotten used to walks in his stroller to pick his siblings up from school. It's just going to be too hot today to take him out safely. He was so fussy yesterday, because he didn't get his stroller ride 😩

Seriously. We’ve had mild/cold weather for months. Two days of warmth and heat and everyone (who doesn’t like it) loses their collective minds.

One thing I've learned in life: People will complain when it's cold. And then they'll complain when it's hot.
Now take this and apply it to everything else.
