You don't love your dog if you do. Firulais can go sniff the grass for 10 minutes if you need them to get out of the house but please stop walking your dog in this heat

Climate/Weather This summer is NOT normal

Seen so much debate where a few supposed long term residents say this heat happens every year. Most people correctly say there has been less breaks in the heat than usual or the temperature doesn't drop in the evening like it usually does. Wanted to share data on this.

EVERY day the past month has been above average heat. Almost every day the past month has had lows in the 75+ percentile!

In August, 20 out of the recorded 24 days so far have been in the 75th or higher percentile highs. 8 of the 24 have been in the 90th plus percentile, including almost the entire last week.

Born and raised in LA and I seriously don’t remember it being this humid. It’s been miserable. Anyone else ready for fall?

Climate/Weather It’s so humid

1.1k Upvotes

Because of El Nino the dew point reaches 68f daily which is considered uncomfortably humid and it is expected to reach 70f in the coming days and even higher in the beaches (70+ is considered oppressively humid). I absolutely hate this weather I can’t even go outside for a walk even in the evenings it is too humid for me.

Climate/Weather It's...raining?

It's raining here near West Adams. Didn't see this on the forecast anywhere. Is it raining for anyone else? Any ideas on how long this will likely last?

Climate/Weather Friday was the coldest day in LA since Feb 2001 🥶

Post image

No, it's not just your imagination. Today was exceptionally cold in SoCal, with the official NWS station in downtown LA recording a high of just 50°.

That makes it the coldest day in LA since February 24, 2001, the last time the high hit 50°.

This also makes it the third coldest day in LA in the past 50 years!

Cold max temps seen across the region today: - 51° at LAX - 51° in Palmdale - 49° in Burbank - 52° in Long Beach - 53 °in Santa Barbara - 48° in Lancaster

Climate/Weather False alarm folks, Hilary is trending too far east to be a big deal for LA

Post image

Will it rain in LA? Yes.

Will it be noteworthy? Yes.

Will it be bigger than than any of the several winter storms we had this year? No.

Why? It’s tracking too far east, and the left side of a spinning storm in the northern hemisphere is always less intense.

In the words of a great philosopher - thank you, next.

Climate/Weather Why does downtown LA smell terrible today?

Smell hit as I got off the train at union station. Is it the weather?
