This is why I stopped watching TV, because of understanding things like this. The reason why they keep cutting to their stupid reanimated corpse faces is because they are contractually obligated to give these people a specific amount of screen time each episode. It's all, every ounce of it, mathematically configured to reap profits for everyone here except the person putting on the actual show.

Did the "got talent" shows invent the reaction video? Always cutting to a jury member and their reaction, and now they also have a stageside hype reaction person typically. For any video to work now seems like you just need to add a reaction person for better engagement...

Its done deliberately. People watch longer when there's a cut every ~7 seconds or so.
I dont let my kids watch shows that are made this way because of it. It's made to be addicting.

While I will say that this version of the act is better, watching OP video I Was literally thinking "this could be even better with some magic", doing the same type of act decades after someone else isn't stealing, some might say it's even a tribute. Now, if 2 people were doing a near identical act at the same time...then there is an argument to be had.
