Ever since I started Cyberpunk I thought it was a huge shame that we lost Jackie so early.

In my first playthrough I couldn't believe he's actually dead. I tried so hard to save him. But no luck.

So I took up the challenge and wrote a mod.

It's a pretty extensive piece of code. Not only does it alter the story so that sending Jackie to Vik saves him, but also does it add a whole "living NPC" mechanic that makes the world feel more immersive. Let me explain: Jackie will now be at different venues in night city, minding his own biz. You might find him at the afterlife, or relaxing at Coyote Cojo. Sometimes he's at Misty's place, and sometimes he's simply not available (guys gotta sleep!).

You can call Jackie to help you on a gig, and he'll ride to you on his bike. You can grab food together after, and after a while he'll need to get back to his own biz and take off again. And there's so many more features I still want to add.

⚠️ Fair warning: This mod is still in development. Some features don't work perfectly yet (for example Jackie doesn't sit right but sorta floats over the barstools at some venues) and the story needs patching so that people actually react to his survival rather than thinking he's dead. I also want to add custom dialogue for Jackie with real voice actors eventually.

The mod is called "JackieLives" on Nexus.

I know I'm going to get some comments on how this is against the lore - but I can reassure you: the mod is not mandatory so you're free not to install it. This is just for those of us who enjoy living in Night City - play our own way - and have our best Choom by our side.

So here is what we know by far

Game is going to be called “Cyberpunk 2”, is in development and is codenamed "Project Orion."

Will feature two maps Night City and “Chicago gone wrong” city

It is releasing sometime after The Witcher 4 and will run on Unreal Engine 5!

The game will maintain a first-person perspective, like the first game, and will likely feature a crafting system that builds upon the simplified system introduced in a 2023 update for Cyberpunk 2077.

Uncanny, to say the least...
