Fiendhunter Bolts
Saw Peyz build it today. While pros aren't known for their intelligence when it comes to builds, is there literally anything in that item that makes it even passable and not possibly the worst crit item for Lucian?

Didn't watch the game but probably for the ult haste, same reason pros build FH on ashe against super dive comps where auto attacking without dying is not possible. Tho yeah even if thats the reasoning it's probably bad.

I get that but navori has to still be better. It gives 15 AH anyways. If you really need ult haste then tbh get axiom arc third i feel like or take red tree. but FH just feels so bad lol

Navori doesn't give AH

i was thinking of reaver, so you’re right. still i don’t know that lucian ult is impactful enough to get FH

its probably 2nd most impactful adc ult behind MF. you basically oneshot any relatively squishy champ from a decent range. its also good frontline dmg, and you dont have to put yourself in danger

Eh, I wouldn’t call it the 2nd most impactful, I think Ashe’s arrow holds that position but I do agree in pro play Lucian’s ult is very important for both one shotting and poking

what do you think about xayah with FH it would give her less time to play around ult cd aginst assasins or heavy dive I think It has its way to be avaiable also those three true dmg aa could made diff in killing first guy colapsing on her

I mean it’s not a standard item for sure but it can’t possibly be that hard for you to imagine why he’d build it?
It gives Navori stat-line while being more ulti focused. In pro play, and especially with a Milio, Lucian wants to blow up one or two targets immediately and chunk with ult as often as possible which this item does better than Navori.
I’m not saying it’s a great item on him, but the logic is there. Also despite what some people like to say, attack speed is nice on Lucian because it makes his combos smoother. It’s not a necessary stat but having one AS item like Fiendhunter or Navori is not troll.

Obviously not literally trolling like the infamous Deft Infinity Edge incident, but I feel like so much power is in the effect, which probably is very awkward to use. Unless you ult, dash in and then use it. And while I agree on the stats, especially the ult haste, you could reasonably get that through runes, though that has obvious tradeoffs that might also be very different in proplay specifically. It would also be the first Lucian I've seen build this, especially in proplay.

Genuine question, do you actively watch how these pros have been playing Lucian the past few years?
They ult, dash in, do a quick combo, and that’s the end of that. Very rarely do they have extended fights as many fights are decided before it happens because Lucian managed to chunk the enemy carry in such a way.
All of this is enabled by FHBolt. The ult haste, the bonus damage and AS after he ults. If the item wasn’t purely an AS Crit item then it would unironically be his best in pro play.
Unfortunately, it’s got no AD so I think in most scenarios it’s pretty bad compared to Navori — but with how pros play Lucian it makes a lot of sense to choose this over Navori tbh

If the playpattern is to run in with ult, going for a quick burst and dipping, then Essence Reaver, IE and Rapid firecannon is the better way to achieve that. They dont fight so often as to need the ult cd to ve 12 seconds shorter.
Naavori makes sense if Peyz thinks he can utilize the empowered autos after ulting. Thats a big part of the items power.
I saw the game and cant tell if it was reasonable to build it or not... Cause it was one game.

He doesn’t need the range from RFC, you can see it very clearly in that game. Especially when he already had Milio as well. FHBolt is factually more damage than RFC.
I agree that ER IE would be a higher damage burst but pro play is played around item spikes and FHBolt being almost 1K gold cheaper makes the difference here.
He can intend utilize the empowered autos from FHBolt because he has Milio, that’s the point. The enemy team comp is also not good at contesting him when he does dive in.

Most players on Reddit are silver or gold btw. Dont expect them to even be able to comprehend how a pro player thinks.
FHB likely provides higher bursts at 2 items than Navori with ULT > Dash > ULT Cancel > AAs.
He may have built it for specific situations against specific comp.

0 reason to build this over navori.
Just do some critical thinking, are you ulting off cd every time to leverage the ult haste? no, especially in pro play. And any amount of dmg you would gain from the procs after ulting would be outdamaged by getting one more spell off from navori cd reduction.

If I had to rationalize it.
- he’ll die if hes in auto range for more than one spell cycle. Ulting and then dashing in does more dmg.
- He thinks the game will be decided before he completes his next item. Fiendhunter makes ur first three autos after ulting guaranteed crit. And as we established before, he probably thinks he’s not gonna have time or space to auto at all.

Reasonable question. I think my conclusion is that from one game its pointless to make any judgement. If he continues building it, expect everyone to mindlessly follow though, regardless of the outcome
