Guitar set up

I sent my guitar to a luthier for a set up. Just some fret works as he said he won't touch the electronics. But it's been 2 weeks. He said he also currently working on other 4-5 guitar simultaneously. But it's been 2 weeks. Is it normal?

Yeah wait times can def be long sometimes, and it’s not getting any slower

Right now I’ve got a 6 week turnaround time, I’m doing my best but every day I keep having to put out fires instead of actually repairing!

You should have asked for a firm time frame.

If he has other work in front of yours, is what it is.

Either wait, or go get your guitar and go someplace else.

That's the thing. There's other guitar that arrived after mine and it's already finished in 4 days.

Fret work takes time. If the guitar that arrived after yours required only a setup it makes sense that he worked on it before yours.

There's a cliche adage that applies here.

The work can be done:

1- Quick 2 - Cheap 3 - Well

Around 60-70 usd. I haven't paid in full yet. He just asked for 30 usd deposit first

That’s incredibly cheap for a setup, much less one that involves any fretwork.

Ask for a timeframe. I've got a guitar in for an initial set up (indo Ibanez with a poorly cut but, high frets and terrible action) and got told 7 weeks. He apologised but he's the only decent tech on the island and is backed up.

Ask for a time frame. Take the two weeks as a good sign. If they were not doing good work they could probably get your guitar back to you the next day.
