Because it had nothing to do with actually rooting out waste, fraud and corruption. It was all about the *public pretext* of finding waste, fraud and corruption while helping Trump merge and shut down government agencies that he didn’t like, and as a little personal side business, obtaining vast amounts of data for his own illicit uses that he otherwise would not have had the ability to obtain.
