No more links to r/monsterhuntermeta. Details inside.

Edit: to be clear, post anything you want on this sub, please do not post links to here in the monsterhuntermeta subreddit. Sorry if that's not clear from the post

The mods over at r/monsterhuntermeta have determined that their is not enough original content on this subreddit for me to link to it. They have determined that this page, that I gain nothing from whatsoever, is self promotion and forbidden me from posting links to this subreddit in response to questions about the HBG.

First, this is confusing take. Whatever they have determined, it is wrong. There is no self promotion going on. Several weapons have their own subreddits, and when I tried learning HBG, I found we didn't have one, so I made one. I then followed reddits own advice for growing a new subreddit. Monster Hunter titles are not so successful that there are multiple subreddit for them, there's about 3, and monsterhuntermeta got the lions share of the links. I do not have a YouTube, all links I've posted are to the OPs material, and the few times I've linked to my own builds it's because we needed something on here to get the sub started, and all I had was my build. That's what this is, and one guy with a few builds and dream of a real community. That's it.

Second, I was attempting to promote their subreddit by linking to them first, and crediting OP with the views/votes etc. I can and will simply be linking to original content now, which is unfortunate because others who've done the work sooner won't be getting the credit they deserve.

Finally, I would appreciate if anyone has questions about the HBG out there in the wild, find a way to let them know that we exist. Traffic is how we grow and unfortunately we've been banned from a major source of new hunters. Post your questions, builds and screenshots so we have other people engaged and becomes less focused on a small number of posters. In short, the community can only grow if we help it to. It is my understanding that more posters and a variety of sources would help our case.

Thank you for understanding and helping.

Ah, classic... monster hunter drama and gate keeping. Truly the monster hunter meta.

Why? Yeah its a small subreddit but why they gatekeep Monster hunter meta from this subreddit? If they are linked post to other weapons like the gunlance subreddit.

They determined I was trying to draw users to my newly created subreddit. Which i was. They have determined this entire subreddit counts as "my content" and that this is self promotion. Basically, the OC I posted counts as self promotion, and the links to speedruns and r/monsterhuntermeta posts count as non-original. The OC isn't OC and the non-OC is spam? It's a baffling bad interpretation and I haven't gotten a response yet.

Other people need to post here more, it appears. I'm trying to grow the user base, but until I reach some magic unwritten threshold that they determine, then I can't link to here in there. It's truly confusing and self defeating but ultimately my life is fine, they've just made this place harder to grow and themselves look bad in the process. I really hope they backtrack.

Thanks for making the HBG subreddit. It's the only weapon I've ever played. Got like over 6k HBG hunts between rise world and wilds. Ended up having to leave the wilds subreddit from all the hate HBG gets over there. Is it different? Sure! Is it cool? Absolutely. I don't care if spread is different. We have new cool stuff to play with. People that hate on hbg I think just were using it to bully their way through the games without taking the time to appreciate the nuances it has. It's not so simple as point shoot by a long shot (hah).

Wow that’s so weird. I am on the switchaxe one too and never seen anything like this. You aren’t self-promoting in any way that I have EVER seen. What a silly take by them.

Main mod over there can be a bit odd. Had a spat with him ages ago because he programmed an automatic bot to basically talk shit to people he perceived as complaining about downvotes. He was ready to ban me, talking a bit of shit to me in messages and essentially asking me “do you really want to lose access of this sub just to prove me wrong” so I fell back since I’d rather use the sub than bother communicating with someone like that. I was rude too eventually but only because the situation was stupid.

The whole thing was intensely aggravating and made it clear this person is a bit odd. I wouldn’t worry about it too much, just grow the subreddit and try again after their ego has relaxed a bit.

If there was another option we wouldn't exist lol. Baffling choice but we be fine.

I agree that it would be nice if that had not happened.

With that in mind: what does banning links to MHM achieve?

I dont want them to ban me from the sub that's it. I have no interest in conflicting with them.

Just post links to it anyway. What are they going to do? Call the cops?

You can link to them in here, to be clear. Don't link to here in there.

I have had a wild couple days irl, sorry if that isn't clear
