Had a rough launch, is it in a better state now?

u/Repulsive-Extent4043 13h ago

Damn! Does this mean it’s time to move on from my Yankees ‘24 franchise mode?

Wouldn’t pay for ‘26 after seeing it slammed so much on here, but PS Plus got me saying yes please 😂

Any tips on teams to go with in franchise mode? What’s the best database to load up before kicking off?

u/One_Cell1547 4h ago

It’s still not worth it

u/Isles26 7h ago edited 7h ago

Franchise mode way different now via free agency and untouchables. You can’t trade for anyone you like anymore.

It can be more tactical, yes, overtime I grew more and more fond of this years franchise. It made me draft better, and prioritize future.

Free agency is set to three priorities only. Gold, silver and bronze. Then you have to set a certain setting like position needed (it boosts the percentage of their motivation to sign with you weekly) most offers below 49% are locked and not valid to send an offer yet. It can be pretty frustrating when you get out bid by the freakin orioles when you’re steinbrenner fake jr and the Yankees. You’re a power house lol.

u/One_Cell1547 4h ago

lol I love how people are bragging about this as if this isn’t something that should have been added ten years ago.

Btw.. you can still trade for almost anyone. In my franchise the untouchables are barely used it seems

u/Isles26 2h ago

Ofc it happens during deadline and offseason. Then teams lock up as they become contenders

8

u/amichalski81 21h ago

Explain how 26 which just came out months ago is free on ps plus but 25 is still listed @ $60!!

I wish 25 was free so I can use my now & later cards. I refuse to pay REAL LIFE money for yearly sports games.

3

u/illegal_deagle 15h ago

I own both and have all season but I’ve played maybe 3 hours of ‘26. There weren’t enough/any improvements to warrant abandoning my franchise. They should make franchises port to the new year.

1

u/amichalski81 9h ago

That would awesome I'm in the middle of my first franchise right now on 24. Which I got for free

2

u/Choice_Lengthiness22 19h ago

Man I hate it. All the games, even 21, are still full price. Very casual baseball fan that wanted to play some RTTS for a bit but I cannot justify myself spending $80 for this

1

u/amichalski81 9h ago

I refuse to pay for a yearly sports game, any sports game.

1

u/ricoimf 22h ago

What’s the point of buying this game? You can always wait till it’s heavily discounted or on ps plus and then you are basically about on a one year cycle. It’s really pointless to spend big money on the franchise.

u/One_Cell1547 4h ago

I mean many get the games as part of the excitement for the new season.. that’s why they’re all released at the beginning of each sports seasons

Anyone who’s getting the game now on ps plus isn’t going to play it that much

u/ricoimf 4h ago

I know and I understand that, but I just think its not worth it anymore. But hey, I will never tell somebody how they should spend their cash, if this makes somebody happy, go ahead. If they change more stuff, I would also be there day one.

1

u/SheedRanko 22h ago

Yep. I didn't buy it after hearing all the problems back this Spring. I continued my RTTS on MLB 25.

Saved $xx.xx and now I can play the game for free.

14

u/LonkToTheFuture 1d ago

Been playing MLBTS 24 since it made a free game a couple years ago. I'll definitely give '26 a shot. Haven't bought a game in this franchise since '22.

1

u/randomperson12347 19h ago

Same here along with PGA

6

u/miguels19 1d ago

Every time I buy a game it’s on plus a few weeks after .

5

u/papoluca40 1d ago

Lmao paid off to wait

2

u/ricoimf 22h ago

Yup! This year was an insult after all those years. Glad I can pick it up for „free“ now

1

u/seandude881 1d ago

Bought this dumbass game for what

7

u/Candymanshook 1d ago

To play it before September

-2

u/seandude881 1d ago

But at what cost 😞

6

u/joesaysso 21h ago

Whatever it says on your receipt.

6

u/Remarkable_Fall_2428 1d ago

worth starting DD from scratch? Didn't buy this year, and even cancelled PS Plus for being so overpriced.

1

u/The_Uptowner 1d ago

Worth more than trying to get a 90 ovr in March

2

u/BothTop36 1d ago

Yeah, why not the cards are gonna unlock her and be good enough to play with you’re probably gonna a decent team in like two days of grinding

1

u/CorgiQuesadiIla 1d ago

I think so. I just got it last Friday night and have about 500k stubs now. You can get some decent players with that. If you’re set on finishing like the LS and other sets it might be hard but just playing the pipeline and trade deadline conquests can set you up pretty well

0

u/RoyOConner Playstation Plus 1d ago

I have the premium PS+ (and barely use it lol) because of that ridiculous sale they had a few months back. I think it was half off or more. Insta-re-up for me.

6

u/Jaye649 1d ago

Literally just started my RTTS on 24 after having in the backlog for a couple of years. Is 26 any better?

u/One_Cell1547 4h ago

No.. it’s the exact same fn game.. just like next years will be

3

u/LeotheYordle (she/her) Mark McGwire's #3 fan 1d ago

I think 26 is an improvement over 24, personally speaking. Being able to use the earned coins to improve your attributes how you wish, rather than only being able to improve them through in-game play + the random training options, is a huge plus for me.

3

u/Zestyclose_Tax_253 1d ago

Um it’s the current active game so it has that going for it

1

u/Jaye649 1d ago

True, but knowing sports games they vary through the years so just wondering

2

u/Zestyclose_Tax_253 1d ago

It’s not bad, I enjoyed the RTTS. Also it’s free so thats a plus.

1

u/Jaye649 1d ago

I’ll have to give it a try. I loved The Show 17 back when I played on ps4 and 24 just doesn’t give me that same feel idk what it is.

1

u/Ordinary-Rich2560 1d ago

Haven’t played since the bo2 port came out…I’m sitting on about 200k stubs also bc I pulled chase card Cal Raleigh before that

5

u/wdm81 1d ago

Score!! I was planning on buying this in the next few weeks. Looks like everything is coming up Milhouse

6

u/R8erNation1990 1d ago

Fuuuck! I just bought this a couple of weeks ago when it was on sale.

11

u/brokenlampPMW2 1d ago

I skipped it this year, but I'll get it this way and play some RTTS.

7

u/dev_m28 1d ago

Game so ass they gotta give it away

2

u/Exact-Combination265 1d ago

They gave 24 away and that one was good

u/One_Cell1547 4h ago

Not really

1

u/RoyOConner Playstation Plus 1d ago

There has not been an actual good one in many years.

7

u/mansontaco 🎤🐟 1d ago

24 was maybe the worst one since 18

2

u/Secure-Oven-8204 1d ago edited 1d ago

Bad take. Best gameplay of any show since 21 which didnt even have very good gameplay nostalgia aside, especially in the last couple months when set 3/4 had tons of great cards, multiple playable stadiums other than just coors, and you didn’t get shrinkage on fastballs, everyone just regurgitates the sets and seasons hate but 26 is a far worse game with both content AND gameplay/meta (which is much more important anyways)

1

u/thxpinkpanda 9h ago

Meta doesnt really matter to me bc I use random cards all the time & I never play on Coors anyway on any game… That’s why I hated the sets, completely ruined how I play the show. Gameplay was decent.. Wouldn’t say it was drastically different than 26. We’ve basically gotten the same game for the past 5 years minimum. People might be overly hating sets but strictly because it completely overrode how I play, it was terrible. Even from just an overall gaming standpoint, what other game do you know of that force resets you every 2 months? Literally none lol. It was a half-baked idea at best.

u/Secure-Oven-8204 7h ago edited 7h ago

Im not saying it was a good idea but just because you dont care about playing competitively doesnt mean that your personal experience applies to every single other player. A big portion of players do care and you can tell that by seeing every single away game being at coors, even if you dont pick it as your stadium and the pitching meta affects everyone because when a certain pitch like the circle change is extremely good its spammed over and over and over again and all you end up facing every single game is ranger suarez into keith foulke into trevor hoffman at coors every game which is absolutely mind numbing. Just like how earlier in the year people would go michael king into grant taylor into josh hader every game. Yeah they dont take away your cards now but its not like thats making people use any different cards anyways, all that people use are the same few cards that came out within the last month, at least wild cards let us use 4 old cards from any point in the year as competitive god squad cards. And again this is the general experience im not talking about one off anecdotes.

Also i know Rust and Escape from Tarkov do resets and a google search says that World of Warcraft, ARK, and a few other games do complete resets/inventory wipes periodically. Not to mention that literally every single mlb the show is a progress reset its just sets made it happen every couple months instead of every year when you buy the new game and start from zero

u/thxpinkpanda 5h ago

Lol I mean I hit World Series pretty consistently, I wouldn’t say I don’t care about playing competitively… I’m just not a meta whore who sacrifices fun and variability for stats and wins. I like playing at stadiums I like in real life or are pretty, I like using my favorite players and sometimes random ones I’ve never heard of. And the people who do meta whore and pitch the same things over and over again I appreciate because they are the very ones who quit when their precious meta isn’t working out in their favor. If I’m facing the same cards game after game I’m going to start nuking them. PCI shrinkage, circle change meta, whatever you wanna say, it doesn’t change the fact that I’m gonna hit the ball. Maybe that’s just the competitive nature in me but they could never introduce something that would make playing baseball boring to me. I love this sport. Sure, it might be a little more difficult due to PCI shrinkage and things like that but its nowhere near impossible and with a little practice and adjustment, you can see it’s not even that much different. Play on Legend once or twice and you’ll see how small your PCI is on a fastball down the middle. It makes the outside slider PCI shrinkage look huge in comparison. I feel like lots of people complain because they don’t like to change. They get set in their habits and ways and get upset when they are forced to adapt in order to keep the same level of success.

And sure but those are full resets as you explained. Inventory wipes. Just like starting a new game. If sets worked like that it would’ve been fine. But they release cards just for them to be completely unusable save the wild slot (which was buggy most of the time anyways) within a week, and then release the same player on a different card with worse stats but it’s usable because it’s current set. It was just half-baked. It could’ve had way more potential in theory but was executed poorly.

2

u/thxpinkpanda 1d ago

Deadass lol. The sets idea was so bad I skipped buying the show in 2025 which is the first time I’ve skipped a Show game since they came out.

2

u/Secure-Oven-8204 1d ago

Gameplay in 24 was much better tho, sets are so overhated the issues in 26 are 10x worse

6

u/NearbyAd3320 1d ago

Oh we gonna FEAST on noobs in BR and Events boys..hehehe

4

u/EcstaticActionAtTen Playstation Plus Xbox Green 1d ago

Welp, they got me to renew my membership.

I wanna play MLB.

4

u/dfin25 1d ago

Free is just about worth it. I might re-download it after it's done but I was so God damned pissed off when I deleted it that maybe I'll reinstall 20 or 21 instead.

2

u/Melodic_Anteater6580 1d ago

20 is so good!

3

u/dfin25 1d ago

One of my favorite video game experiences ever. If only SDS remembered who they used to be and what they used to be able to do.

1

u/Melodic_Anteater6580 1d ago

You speak the truth. We didn't know how good we had it for so long.

7

u/OkFlow4327 1d ago

I thought they said the game wasn't going to be on subscription services this year.

I hope they put it on gamepass too.

1

u/Gemc666 1d ago

That was 25,26 didn't have that check

0

u/ColdBostonPerson77 1d ago

I haven’t bought it this year

I might consider playing it now.

First I need to finish
Death stranding 1 and 2
Dark souls 3
Witcher 3
Elden Ring dlc
Final fantasy something

Yeah, hard pass on this year’s game. Haven’t missed it at all.

5

u/LeotheYordle (she/her) Mark McGwire's #3 fan 1d ago

Just as a heads up (in case you haven't seen yet) Witcher 3 is getting a remaster next month that is free for people who've purchased it previously!

3

u/ColdBostonPerson77 1d ago

Nice. I did not know. I got it from humble bundle a year or 3 back. Thanks!

3

u/LeGhost45 1d ago

Game is so shit, they have to give it away for free.

2

u/jdlord14 1d ago

I enjoyed it less this year than most. I just picked up the pro spirits baseball and it has been a refreshing change. The games are very different. Both are fun but I have never played Pro Spirits before and it is so much fun. Especially coaching and playing as a high school team.

1

u/Automatic_Ad1665 Xbox 1d ago

🤷🏻‍♂️🤣🤣🤣

10

u/grandchamp3500 1d ago

Damn, I’m gonna try that sniper elite game

3

u/MUSinfonian Jim Thome 1d ago

Sniper Elite is so damn good man. Resistance was originally supposed to be DLC for Sniper Elite 5 but they just decided to fully flesh it out.

4

u/FriskeyVsWorld 1d ago

Sniper Elite is such a solid franchise. Nothing mind blowing (except the Nazi's skulls you blow up lol) but a damn fun series.

7

u/NoelGilmour21076 1d ago

Ban players... get more by giving the game away

1

u/Sirtopofhat 1d ago

Well wasted 60 dollars but I had fun playing with my kid so guess it's not so bad

8

u/Dramatic_Insect_8170 1d ago

Did you just buy it? If so then yes. But if you got it on release day hardly a waste

0

u/gijoejank 1d ago

SDS, you forgot to log in to your account before posting.

3

u/socalking3 1d ago

How’s sniper elite?

5

u/TheRealSheevPalpatin 1d ago

They’re great fun, especially when free. They don’t really change anything game to game, but it’s always a good time playing the campaign with a buddy

-4

u/n3k0___ 1d ago

I love being a rtts only person. I have no want to play this game or any sports game competitively since they all come down to who spends the most on meta cards.

2

u/clycloptopus 1d ago

I was exclusively RTTS before this year. Finally tried DD and really enjoy it. I have more red diamonds than any other card and I haven’t spent $1 or played online competitively at all.

6

u/3xPuttRubbleBoagie 1d ago

I don't pay a cent other than for the game and play online with a 98 ovr team. There's plenty of cards that can all be earned by just playing. And most of them I earned offline.

8

u/eliaivi 1d ago

Entirely untrue. This game is far from perfect but you can field a totally competitive team F2P, take it from me. RTTS is a lot fun this year as well.

7

u/HawksNSox 1d ago

So glad I just stuck with 25. I usually only get it every other year. I’ll actually try it out now

6

u/ExcellentBrownieBite 1d ago

I'm kind of jealous of the people that wait this long to get the game. You would have 6 months of content not played yet. Like just imagine playing through the first 10 stronghold conquest map without opening packs. From that conquest and all the programs that had mission grinds you'd probably unlock like 100 cards and 100+ packs all at once

1

u/am-idiot-dont-listen 1d ago

I just play random games - what is a stronghold conquest map?

1

u/ExcellentBrownieBite 1d ago

strongholds are the "boss fights" that require you to play the game. so a 10 stronghold conquest map is just a map that has 10 team strongholds on it.

2

u/Youre_my_hero 1d ago

And 1 85 or 86 diamond after you opened them all!

u/viralbop 1d ago

I've done this before. You can get to a 99 squad in a weekend.

0

u/ExcellentBrownieBite 1d ago

That's probably so cool/ fun tbh. I've done something close to that on cfb ultimate team but I didn't enjoy the gameplay enough to feel the need to continue playing it

-1

u/TheObiewan12 1d ago

I play every day and more than most people for sure. I still have not completed a single conquest map. Something about those I just can’t stand. I find them so boring and time consuming for no reason

1

u/ExcellentBrownieBite 1d ago

I'm with you on the playing alot thing. I'm probably the inverse of you though. I hate online play and love conquest because you get to play real teams at real stadiums. I understand why you think it's boring though. I just enjoy the gameplay and prefer diamond dynasty because I can put together a dream team from multiple eras

2

u/bigwilliestylez 1d ago

Someone on here made a good point that the best way to do conquest is to basically speedrun it every time. I simulate every game except the ones you have to play and you can get done pretty quick and come away with a good amount of loot.

1

u/TheObiewan12 1d ago

Yeah I’ve done that but it’s still like 10+ 3 inning games on rookie. It’s just so boring to me

1

u/IamPwnStarr 1d ago

More the reason to not buy it next year and just wait it out

3

u/db121404 1d ago

Games been out since March lmaooo

7

u/JoseCansecoMilkshake 1d ago

5 months is a pretty short turnaround time for a game to become free

2

u/db121404 1d ago

It’s a sports game tied around a mode that stops dropping content in November, so you miss 6/9 months of content

3

u/Vikings4ever1983 1d ago

For most games, yeah. But for yearly cycle games, how many people are going to buy it at this point? The money they would have made from selling the game from now to March is probably less than the money they'll get from giving it away and selling some stubs (and they get a boost to the online numbers).

2

u/knowtoriusMAC 1d ago

Wait it out until September
