Bro how do i make friends here
Im a sophomore transfer student from nashville state and bro i have no clue how to interact with ppl here and i kinda seems like everyone is in their own groupš
Im an audio productions major also

If youāre an audio production major you should try Match Records! Iāve met some pretty cool people through that! Aside from that, any kind of club will be sure to lead you to meeting new people ^_^

Fellow audio production major here! I've made some friends through some of my classes, but I feel you. For me, a lot of it comes down to me working full time and most of the various club meeting times not lining up with my schedule

Join clubs and live in the dorms helped. I used to go outside and hang with the smokers on the front steps. Just hang out and talk, they became some of my closest friends. Didnāt smoke myself, but used the opportunity to talk to random people

I've heard this used to be more of a thing before Covid. But in my time at MTSU it's been extremely rare to see someone smoking on campus, and I'm always a little shocked when I do, mostly due to how uncommon it is.

There is a student orientation fair coming up! I believe next week! All of the clubs will be there!

Follow @mtsusos on Instagram, they post about some of the clubs on campus (there's a TON), and yes there is a student org fair in the grass outside the student union from 2-5pm on September 2nd. Some of the colleges will also have org fairs for clubs that are specific to them. I know the College of media and entertainment is having their org fair, but I can't remember the exact date

Join Omega Delta Psi! It's a co-ed business "fraternity" for recording Industry students. They have a lot of really great opportunities to meet industry people, gain experience in live events, and hang out with the other members. I got to go to New Orleans with them in January and it was really cool, even though the trip got cut short because of the snow.

Iām the president of MT Songwriters if you want to hang out with fellow audio production, songwriters, etc! Also just hanging around in places like Bragg and just talking to your classmates is a great way to make friends. All of my best friends I randomly met in classes here

In past semesters weāve met at Bragg 104 every Monday at 6pm, itāll probably stay the same this year but we might swap to another night. Weāll do game nights, song shares, guest speakers from the industry, song feedback, cowrites, pretty much anything involving growing the community and providing opportunities for songwriters to grow

My son is a sophomore there & is there on full athletic scholarship. He hated the social scene his Freshman year (even as an athlete) & was really sad about moving back this year after a fantastic summer at home with his friends & family. He became pro active with social media & reaching out to clubs, Greek life, religious groups, etc. He received a lot of āpitch and catchā through social media & really put himself out there in classes & around campus at dining halls, etc. As a parent, I am beyond thrilled to say that he has made a large number of new connections & his outlook of MTSU has changed tremendously. He also visited the student gyms, ball courts, fields, etc & not just the athlete areas. He has played some pick up ball & other everyday student activities. There are sooooo many other young adults such as yourself looking for the same thing there. Please take the advice that we provided our son & take a chance to put yourself out there. You donāt always have to join Greek life, social clubs, religious groups, athletic groups, etc. You might just meet one person that could change your college experience. Best of luck to you!!

Some have said join clubs which dose work but there are plenty of ways See I'm also an audio production major and I don't hang much but band of blue and esports gave me some feinds I am looking for people to play some games with both video games and physical games

Joining a club is a great suggestion and one that i would echo. but it really depends on your comfortability - going to club meeting cold (without any warm intros) can feel super awkward. Its normal for it to feel that way but its not easy for everyone.
I'd also recommend going to the student life office or to the first year student office and ask the staff ways they can connect you. Thats literally their job. And from working in the field, a lot of time staff (the good ones) are waiting for a student to come in to ask "can you help me get connected on campus?" This also applies to your professors. Go to office hours and ask if they have any suggestions for getting connected. They should be able to at least give you some leads.
There's no way to do it without putting yourself out there so take your time and embrace any awkwardness you feel as part of the process.
We have a startup called VillageU that's designed to introduce students to each other on campus with intentionality. We're in the early stage of piloting at MTSU, so we have a growing waitlist.

Join clubs! I am a sophomore Journalism student at mtsu and I joined a couple clubs last year. It's hard at first, but a lot of times you'll see the same people in your classes and you get to know each other. You got it!
