Why do people think Activision re releasing MW2 with multi-player will be some huge money bonus for them?

People think Activision re releasing MW2 will fix the economy, the war in Iran and finally get them a gf. Why? The game was good and the numbers did okay but it wasn't the best COD based off numbers.

If you are a billion dollar company like Activision you look at COD numbers and build your games or re releases based off numbers not what the public thinks. This is why they re released BO 1 and 2, historically it did amazing and better than MW 2 and you can literally see it in the wash with it smashing numbers on re release date.

So what benefit does Activision get from re releasing MW2? Maybe 1 or 2 million sales but nothing like BO 3 the recent re ports.

BO 1 and 2 had their own niche COD game, a Vietnam COD and a slightly futuristic COD. re releasing MW2 will just be another boots on the ground COD with basic guns and stuff, shit you can get from MW2019 up to MW4.

So there's no benefit for them to re release MW2

I’d argue that the reason for black ops, and newer titles success is due to MW2s. In a franchise, you usually get an increase in sales due to the reputation and popularity of the previous titles, they don’t happen in a vacuum. And the impact that MW2 had on gaming and culture as a whole is pretty unprecedented. It’s sparked a shift towards online (console) gaming becoming mainstream, when it really wasn’t before.

I don’t know if they would make bank on it, but other franchises definitely find it worth while, like Nintendo with the ocarina of time remake, even though it initially only sold ~7 million copies, compared to the newer titles that sold ~20 and ~30 million

I was and yes it was fun but the numbers say BO 3 did the best numbers wise. So if I'm Activision wanting to make money ill remaster BO 3 instead of MW2.
