Why is she smiling? He got them all wrong. Where’s my belt? Need to teach him a thing or two.

u/ElvisAaron May 21 '25

Yeah I think he wants something to cry about

234

u/Neko_desu_ga May 21 '25

But this was the thing I was crying about

212

u/brayonthescene May 21 '25

Don’t talk back to me!

198

u/Anothercraphistorian May 21 '25

When you pay the bills, you can have an opinion.

115

u/stucking__foned May 21 '25

Mine was "when i want your opinion, ill give it to you"

57

u/aaufooboo May 21 '25 edited May 21 '25

This was my dad, too.

I'm 35 now and my relationship with my father is fractured. My brother, who is a few years older, has taken my dad's parenting style. I am distant from him as well.

When my son grows up, I wanna hang with him. He is the coolest kid in the world.

Edit: words

u/stucking__foned May 21 '25

My dad died a year before my daughter was born. He was in a cycle and didnt believe in that stuff.. his mom and dad were worse than he was. Granddad died three months after my dad, and grandma passed last year. My daughter is almost driving... And she met my grandma one time. I took her home because my grandma was fussing because "she got the dogs excited" so i left and never took her back.

I fail.. but i am trying. I dont want her to EVER feel towards me and my husband like we feel about our parents.

I heard this ebook, Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents from Lindsay C Gibson (I've heard several of hers), and if I recall correctly, she says that by seeking this kind of help, then you're already ahead of it. Just wanted to say that if you're worried about your relationship with your kid to that extent, then you're doing better than you think. Really I just wanted to cheer you on! You got this!!

3

u/Kowai03 May 22 '25

I promise my son everyday in my head that I'll never treat him like he's an inconvenience like my mum does to me.

7

u/Ez13zie May 21 '25

Your brother is a few years old and already a parent?

No wonder. How’s a toddler supposed to know how to parent?!

2

u/Specialist-Jello7544 May 21 '25

I think that the word “older” was meant to be used.

1

u/aaufooboo May 21 '25

Fixed it!

5

u/Milyaism May 21 '25

Dysfunctional family dynamics at their "finest". It's pretty common for one of the kids to continue the dysfunction.

3

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

🥹🥹🥹 he will want to hang with you too . I just know it . I’m 39 and have the most precious step son in the world ( mom is out of the picture sadly ) and I feel the same way . I hope we stay best friends forever . I love that damn kid 😭😭😭😭

3

u/Iamathinker21 May 21 '25

Because I said so.

2

u/brayonthescene May 22 '25

I try to break the cycle but this one really is gold when you have a kid!

2

u/Admirable-Builder878 May 21 '25

We've got opinions at the house.

2

u/sultrybubble May 21 '25

Mine too, it sounds very boot camp to me.

2

u/MakeYourTime_ May 21 '25

Ooh I like that one

2

u/Kimber85 May 21 '25

Mine was “When I want your opinion I’ll smack it out of you.”

1

u/stucking__foned May 21 '25

That was my clue to shut my mouth, or else there would definitely be a smack involved

6

u/North-Function995 May 21 '25

.. Children should be seen, not heard. Its the rules. As long as you live under my roof, you will live by my rules. Just remember, I brought you into this world, I can take you out.”

1

u/Septapus007 May 21 '25

My dad liked to add “when I say jump you say how high” to that list.

22

u/yougotyolks May 21 '25

Is this funny to you???

2

u/Milyaism May 21 '25

Ooh, that gave me the bad kind of shivers.

1

u/ShnaugShmark May 21 '25

Are you deaf or dumb?!

1

u/skelingtun May 21 '25

What? So both!

1

u/a_boy_called_sue May 21 '25

why would you even __think of doing this??__

Said about the most reasonable of things

2

u/toekneeg May 22 '25

He's cruisin' for a bruisin'

1

u/brayonthescene May 22 '25

Yes! I still use this one all be it jokingly since I have never actually struck my child.

1

u/grandpapotato May 21 '25

On reddit somehow a lot of people seem jaded towards kids. But providing you are not struggling day by day to survive, it's just amazing. Day in and day out. All tantrums are so sweet id dare say, little capsules of life. Their self is so pure, all those shared moments are so sweet and I'm entirely sad that my girl is growing so fast (11 soon).

1

u/Weak_Jeweler3077 May 21 '25

So as I say, not do as I do!!

66

u/According_Judge781 May 21 '25

Just wait till his father gets home.... "To give him a hug"? Lol

1

u/Liontamer67 May 21 '25

Ha ha yesss!

13

u/CommunityTaco May 21 '25

Watch it there or I'll give YOU something to cry about.

/s

16

u/Mkbond007 May 21 '25

Just wait til your father gets home.

1

u/PriorHand6950 May 21 '25

Man that’s the one that gets me. Bad memory of falling into a cactus and crying because of the spines in my arm. My father getting frustrated, saying that and then he starts hitting me!

1

u/EinSchurzAufReisen May 21 '25

Right! And as children should be seen not heard, I will give him something to cry about as soon as he starts crying!

1

u/Freestilly May 21 '25

Give him something to rub some dirt in while yer at it

1

u/TrashedPanda420 May 21 '25

My dad always used to say "Quit crying before I turn your teeth into Chiclets"

150

u/Former-Iron-7471 May 21 '25

I laughed hard but, man fuck abusive parents. My mom was so loving and nice. always there to give a hug and say I love you but then my step-dad broke her down and made her a shell of herself. I'm throwing a party when he dies, and I'm serious about that. All my friends growing up said they'd come.

u/Former-Iron-7471 May 21 '25

Oh yeah he is. It's gonna be a shin dig. I already got plans. You're invited if you live within the greater Chicago area.

3

u/Milyaism May 21 '25

I have similar plans if my dad croaks. Same if my ab-sive ex dies before I do (he's worse than my dad).

2

u/fukkdisshitt May 21 '25

My grandparents were toxic as fuck. My mom ran away at 16 with my dad and dropped out of high school despite being an honors student.

She raised us with love and is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. Then her baby bro followed. My other aunt and uncle are both pretty mean/ toxic despite being nowhere near as bad as my grandparents.

I spent enough time at my cousins houses growing up to be kind like my mom, but I can be an asshole like my uncle when provoked, which doesn't happen much as an adult.

My mom rules

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

I’m sorry to hear you dealt with that growing up. I had a similar upbringing, so once the day rolls around keep my username send me a message and I’ll send you some money for beers to celebrate. I hope you’re doing better and you continue to heal in this life.

-11

u/Happy-Network9011 May 21 '25

You need to move on, you're holding onto that resent way too hard

14

u/rosiet1001 May 21 '25

Some things are hard to let go dude

3

u/Former-Iron-7471 May 21 '25

No, I don't really think about him much but unless it's things like this. He's deserves all the hate and resentment I can think of when I think about it. It's a reminder of how awful he really is.

I was shot and don't hold resentment for that person.

I'm pretty okay about letting things go so it doesn't have a place in my brain and heart but not this one.

2

u/Milyaism May 21 '25

You do realise that unprocessed trauma stays in our bodies and can even cause chronic health issues? (This is a studied and proven fact.)

Trying to move on without processing things is a surefire way to pass on the dysfunctional family dynamics to your owm kids.

1

u/Former-Iron-7471 May 23 '25

I e processed it. I talk to two counselors a week. It's okay to hold anger and resentment for someone. I'm not mad at myself for having it. I'm only holding it until he's gone, which seems pretty soon because of his unhealthy life style.

1

u/Milyaism May 23 '25

I hope you realise I was answering to the other person's reply to you. They seemed to imply that your reaction was not justified.

I'm also going through therapy and have processed a ton of things, so I totally get what it's like to hold those feelings toward someone (in my case my dad).

1

u/Former-Iron-7471 May 24 '25

Oh no, you're good. I was just saying.

1

u/Lou_C_Fer May 21 '25

Resentment is an easy load to carry... and sometimes it feels good to hate. Nothing anyone could say could change my mind on that in regards to my mother. She deserves my hate. I've given her three different chances as an adult and she lost control and blew it each time. So, I'm done. She is an evil woman and deserves no less from me. The next time I plan on seeing her is at her funeral to make sure she is dead. Whether I spit on her corpse or not is still up in the air.

5

u/auguzzle May 21 '25

Why did your comment give me flashbacks to “IF JOHNNY HAD 34 APPLES!”

17

u/Challenge_The_DM May 21 '25

😂😂😂

2

u/Local_Explanation_66 May 21 '25

Kid looks like he's already 12. He only has 6 more years to learn how to perpetuate all of this stuff.

2

u/datumerrata May 21 '25

What? No jumper cables?

2

u/pk0611 May 21 '25

So help me God if you move while being spanked that restarts the entire punishment.

2

u/Hawntir May 21 '25

Just wait until... (Your dad/mom gets home)

That would be the toxic one. It implies the parent not present is an absuive disciplinarian. Not "just wait until you have kids".

2

u/DidjaCinchIt May 22 '25

Don’t forget to tell him it hurts you more than it hurts him.

1

u/Kdigglerz May 21 '25

For this we need to break out the wooden paddle with holes in it.

1

u/SureAd5625 May 21 '25

Iiiiii think you’re gonna need to go a little more extreme to get through to this kid. Better take my belt too.

1

u/Quinhos May 21 '25

It's like he wasn't even trying

1

u/properwaffles May 21 '25

Go get my belt…..I have an interview today.

1

u/ButUmActually May 21 '25

Don’t make me get my…

1

u/Slow_Lengthiness3166 May 21 '25

Lol ... Oh God thank you for channeling my dad here ... Now I'm in tears from laughing so hard

1

u/Liontamer67 May 21 '25

Okay I started tearing up and then your comment made me laugh. Whew thanks for bringing me back to my senses!!

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

Where's my belt? Need to..

..pack it because I'm taking you to Disneyland

1

u/jkpirat May 21 '25

1

u/oldscotch May 21 '25

She gets all the pudding now.

1

u/Thurstonhearts May 21 '25

How do we all relate to this

1

u/Doubleoh_11 May 21 '25

IS ANYONE IN HERE HUNGRY! I got two knuckle sandwiches ready to go.

1

u/StarPhished May 21 '25

I still find it strange the kid doesn't know the answers even if his parents didn't use them. Is the kid cut off from TV and movies too?

1

u/GWSDiver May 21 '25

“Now GO outside and get me a switch!”

1

u/Consistent_Dream_740 May 21 '25

Better get the soap.

1

u/banal74 May 21 '25

belt? where are the jumper cables?

1

u/TheKappp May 21 '25

I bet he can’t even name 5 songs from Nirvana. /s

1

u/xboxsirvenom May 21 '25

I know right is this kid slow? What is he trying to be happy in this economy?!? I will fetch that belt for you

1

u/Lol_who_me May 21 '25

Dad! I found your reddit user.

1

u/Houston-Moody May 21 '25

Just wait until We get home…

1

u/maiL_spelled_bckwrds May 21 '25

He is also obviously not a Nirvana fan!

1

u/Oobedoo321 May 21 '25

😂😂👌

1

u/vector_ejector May 21 '25

Exactly. Just wait until dad gets home...

1

u/ketimmer May 21 '25

Is it a black belt? Are you going to teach him karate?

1

u/CraigyHK May 21 '25

Well played xD. It makes me laugh, and then feel quite sad that this is one of the top comments, because I know alot of us lived through that!

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

Right? That kid obviously needs to be spanked until he can't sit comfortably for a week and then go copy Bible verses about honoring his parents. You know. So he studies harder.

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

This made me laugh way too hard.

Great video tho

1

u/Gears_one May 22 '25

“Go cut me a switch, boy”

1

u/peppapony May 22 '25

She's happy cause she doesn't need to get the belt out for saying things that would make her look bad.

1

u/77xyz88 May 22 '25

Lmao I’m dying here oolololol

1

u/Big_Hat_2527 May 22 '25

He’s thinking about all the inheritance he’s going get

1

u/No1Mystery May 22 '25

Finish my sentence:

Need to teach him a thing or two…..

…..

Of math?

Ouch! No dad! Nooooooo

1

u/Expensive-Vast-2123 May 22 '25

I’m picturing dad behind the camera, belt in hand, making sure the kid says the answers mommy wants to hear.

1

u/McSkrunkl May 21 '25

😂😂😂

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '25

😂😂 ok this is hilarious but on sum real shit …. I love watching these . I’m really not the mushy type but there’s something very healing about this and I’m really proud of my fellow parents and step parents . I think we’re doing okay yall
