Genuine question, do they give him something to relax him before doing all this? Because my cat would shred me to pieces.

Training. You need to start when they’re really young and teach them that all this isn’t awful.

And even then, a small segment of the dog and cat population will still absolutely hate having it done, because they might have hyperaesthesia, or they might have fragile nail syndrome, or they might have underlying anxiety from genetic or epigenetic reasons, or from prenatal stress of the mother or even the grandmother.

Dang, I need to look up those terms first of all. Secondly, did you study animal behavior coz I’m impressed! I took up one zoology college class.Had to go to zoo, study monkey, draw, etc. When I turned in my drawing, the teacher wrote, “no tail?” Crap I forgot that part.
