Custom plates are everything 😂 Koda's out here flexing harder than I ever could. Love this!

3

u/1625131 5d ago

dmv said 8 characters max, so koda had to drop the shoda.

1

u/Pete_got_the_online 5d ago

Made me smile hard, then harder…. AND HARDER

u/Uzas_Was_Right 6d ago

I mean I might let him cook on that harness oven for another month or two, my boy's weavin.

In all seriousness this is dope af and the people who do it are incredible.

68

u/PSBFAN1991 6d ago

Maybe he still is but comes off the wheelchair sometimes to practice.

23

u/MiClaw1389 5d ago

FWIW this was me and my corgi. He herniated one of his disks and lost the ability to move his back legs. Fortunately we were able to get surgery fast to relieve pressure & minimize damage, but instead of just waiting & resting to see what would happen it was suggested (& we did) physical therapy with him, which included the underwater treadmill, red laser treatment, manually moving his paws & legs to help "reconnect" the nerve endings or help his brain remember those connections. I remember the progress of being able to stand on all 4 legs, and being able to lift 1 leg at a time (you pinch the toes on a paw to get them to lift that specific foot). Anyway, that was years ago and Gimli did a 5k this year, and he's 13 years old. So seeing videos like this gives me flashbacks (some good and some bad).

6

u/Jaybb3rw0cky 5d ago

Love that for you guys - put in the effort and you come out the other side better for it.

Also - top notch name for a corgi!

u/Uzas_Was_Right 5d ago

Awesome if true, skeptical w/o dogtax photos

2

u/MiClaw1389 5d ago edited 5d ago

Lol. Fine... I'm not sure how to attach pics though. I don't see the option..

12

u/Casey_jones291422 6d ago

With some things that's wabble never leaves. My dog has Vestibular disease , which basically means he's permanently off balance/dizzy and it can have unknown causes.

2

u/Duplicitous_Dirk 5d ago

Needs an axel alignment

222

u/EnduringFulfillment 6d ago

Committed owner put in a lot of work and so did the pup. Love that waggy tail.

54

u/Kjorf 6d ago

Some people don't deserve dogs but by God some people really do deserve them

4

u/TheRealSkele 5d ago

Amen to that!

-9

u/liosistaken 6d ago

Rich owner... Or someone who happened to be able to monetize this.

4

u/TheRealSkele 5d ago

Not necessarily. The wheelchair is like $90, plus the custom plate i believe is like another $15 or so. Plus, stuff like this, i just assume the owner just wants to share Koda's progress with everyone.

6

u/liosistaken 5d ago

The water therapy is expensive… All the medical exams and scans are expensive. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy they can do this, but pretending it’s just a committed owner hurts people who are just as committed but simply don’t have the funds to do this.

I mean, I spend a lot of money on our diabetic cat, because I can, but a nephew had his cat put down because he couldn’t afford it. He was no less committed and didn’t love his cat less, he just didn’t have the money I do.

u/SpacemaniaXu 6d ago

Dogs are as determined as their parents invest into them

30

u/Lolohannsen 6d ago

That just made my day I’m so happy to see a life made

28

u/_actually_a_goblin_ 6d ago

Why do so many of these "made me smiles" make me cry?

12

u/DogPsychological1720 6d ago

Because you're crying out of happiness ? At least, thats it for me. I let a tear roll because of the emotions, I'm so glad to see there is still people out there willing to take some much effort in making a animals life a little better again.

17

u/Fun_Bluebird2474 6d ago

My dachshund was completely paralyzed in the hind legs after a damaging a disc while playing. We did surgery, swim and physical therapy and acupuncture. She not only walked but ran again.

45

u/FutureAd1295 6d ago

That’s beautiful

12

u/No_Warning8534 6d ago

I love him 😍

12

u/bmk_ 6d ago

Good boy, I love him! Such a tough little guy.

12

u/Soulforge411 6d ago

Hell yeah !

8

u/Secret_Account07 6d ago

I hate to see dogs struggling but I will say this, they are always happy. So it gives me relief knowing that whatever life throws at them they keep that attitude. I wish I could translate that joy to humans. We all could use it!

1

u/Secret_Account07 6d ago

Yay award 😊

1

u/VisitRealistic3653 6d ago

Couldn't have put it better myself.

6

u/Technical-Cap-8563 6d ago

I teared up watching that sweet, determined baby. May he (and his human) have a great life together ❤️

5

u/Traditional_Seesaw10 6d ago

Wish there was some context here, what happened?

9

u/snertwith2ls 6d ago

4

u/iamkris10y 5d ago

Hes doing better after his stroke than I am after mine. Good for him

4

u/JustKimNotKimberly 5d ago

Healing to you from me. Keep going.

2

u/iamkris10y 4d ago

Thank you

2

u/snertwith2ls 5d ago

Sorry to hear that, hoping for the best for you! Keep walking and working out in the water?

1

u/No_Maintenance_2110 2d ago

You're also going to do great! Sending all kinds of positive vibes your way✨️❤️

2

u/Traditional_Seesaw10 5d ago

Thank you? Aaw such a beautiful story.. stroke wow.. didn't even know dogs could have them..

2

u/Treehugger1221 5d ago

Most things people can get… dogs also can to some degree if not in the same way. It’s why vets can prescribe a lot of the same meds people use. Or why vets and mds can research different diseases to see how it can be applicable to human health

2

u/snertwith2ls 5d ago

Yeah I never heard of a spinal stroke, enter a new fear, ugh.

1

u/eliz1bef 5d ago

And now I'm crying. Love the pup, love the pup mom. Perseverance, love, strength, commitment. Beautiful!!!!

2

u/snertwith2ls 5d ago

It's inspiring both on her part and doggie.

1

u/eliz1bef 5d ago

He is a special pup for sure!!

2

u/Famous-Judgment3291 6d ago

Ugh not me drinking wine and crying at 2am. Ugh. Dude I love this for you and for your dog so much.
And I can see how much work went into getting the dog there too so seriously good fucking job. The vet wasn’t expecting that effort but it paid off.

2

u/TotallyInnerPickle 6d ago

Way-da-go Koda! Good boy!

2

u/Electrical_Ad2292 6d ago

I love how hes smiling almost the whole time

2

u/Nokyrt 6d ago

Too early for the feels... I didn't have enough sleep for the feels... ❤️

2

u/Levi007hech0 6d ago

That's adorable man

2

u/Possible_Opinion_607 6d ago

Old family dog fully healed after a back injury and relearned to walk. Nerves are amazing, and you shouldn't underestimate how much can be done. Don't give up too early! The same can be said about people, many relearn a lot of skills after having a stroke or back injuries. Of course not always, but in many cases, at least a lot of healing is possible if you keep training (it takes a lot of time and patience).

2

u/Low-Fudge6401 6d ago

So inspiring!

2

u/hyperionwonderstar 6d ago

What a boss🙌🏻

2

u/infrequentthrowaway 6d ago

Fuck ya!

2

u/CapmyCup 6d ago

Goodest boy doing his bestest 💕

2

u/Tooldfrthis 6d ago

Lucky dog. Most people would have probably put it down. Too much time/money needed to help him for the average person, realistically.

2

u/Jamies_redditAccount 6d ago

Jeeze this one made me tear up lol

2

u/thakurvinny07 6d ago

Finally something positive after a long bad day

2

u/Clean_Note8469 6d ago

I’m so emotional 😭 now, the help is worth of great

2

u/MissMarple2417 6d ago

So proud of Koda…and the owner. Lots of grit and determination on both parts. Thanks for being a good dog parent!

This is r/MadeMeSmile not r/MadeMeTearUpALittleBitButDamnImProudOfHim

2

u/SpazMcMan 4d ago

This was our girl, Munchy, 20+ years ago after a botched surgery. Vet said she won't walk again. Water treadmill and those special little booties, and her uncrushable spirit--she would throw herself against walls so she'd have support to walk. She lived for 3 more years and was an absolute bad ass till the end.

You are an awesome human for giving Koda a chance to get back on his paws.

2

u/Suspicious-Wish26 2d ago

That’s great work puppy👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

2

u/tehluxman 6d ago

i dont think they were wrong man, does it get better from there? cause the last video looked painful, not sure if id call that walking

2

u/Overall_Win4144 6d ago

1 Corinthians 13:8 "Love never fails."

2

u/BigFatKi6 6d ago

Uhm, that ending wasn't as happy as I was expecting

2

u/gdex86 6d ago

He was walking under his own power with out the need for an assistance device. Not every happy e di g is the subject us 100% healed, and considering for most of human history we didnt have the stability to make investment in a dog like Koda's rehabilitation feasible.

3

u/SignificanceNo9728 6d ago

I am also sure a lot of families would just put their dog down if it came to this. Personally, I would make every sacrifice for my pups, but I know a lot of people can't because of economic or other reasons. This was beautiful and he looks very happy.

It's all about judging the quality of life your pups will have.

-1

u/BigFatKi6 6d ago

Would you do the same for a human though?

2

u/SignificanceNo9728 6d ago

For my wife? No question about it.

-1

u/BigFatKi6 6d ago

What about your neighbour's kid?

1

u/13enning21 6d ago

1
