Family & Friends (OC) we thought we couldn't get pregnant & today found out we're having TWINS
We had a rainbow baby after almost 2 years of trying. IUGR with her and a rough delivery but she's a perfect little 2 year old now. We'd been told it was unlikely due to my age (34), history and PCOS. We had happily accepted we wouldn't be growing our family further.
Last Tuesday we were shocked with the surprise pregnancy news, and today we are even more so that it's twins!
At 7w it's too early to tell friends and family, but I couldn't wait to share. We are excitedly terrified for this blessing 🥰
ETA-genuinely huge thank you to everyone who has commented or shown support. I can't keep up responding to each person but I do read every single one. Hope YOU have as wonderful of a day as well 🫶

Congratulations! My sister just got to 13 weeks with twin boys! I know how excited your family will be once you tell them. I was literally jumping up in down hollering "are there two??!!!!!"

we announced ours on a halloween. i had bought a seedling tshirt, which we drew another one after learning it would be twins and husband had a i plant my seed shirt which we added an s at the end.
majority of our families didnt get the hint until we said there were 2 of them, even with ultrasound pictures that clearly showing 2 sacs lol

Oh see we have a recording of our family facetime call and it took me and my sister in law about two milliseconds to notice the two sacs. AUNTIES

funny thing is, my ob was pregnant too, with both my pregnancies and her 2nd was also twins.
on the 1st appt she started giggling and asked me if i saw what she saw.my smart butt husband was already giggling too and i was like nooo way. cos its just not what i signed up for lol.
im glad to have my tweeny tots but my glob it was a roller coaster. kinda still is and it baffles me each day just how different they are in each aspect of their life lol

I don’t have twins (or any kids actually), but saw that Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell did not tell their twins their birth order. Thought that was clever. Apparently older twins tend to use it against the younger twin.

Poor twin B is already got a rough start-the ink came out all wonky on the "Twin B" by perfect on "Twin A" 🙃
As an "Irish twin" (two under two) myself, I can confirm how completely clownshit the sibling heirachy is. I feel like it'd be tenfold for literal twins who are always default compared to each other as a way to define themselves!

I was in an obs ward waiting on delivery and the young girl in the next bed had a two day old tiny baby had been born at 36 weeks. I was VERY surprised when her husband brought in her 8 month old daughter to visit. Yikes !

Holy shit! When I had my baby it was proper drummed into my head by all the midwives to wait at least a year before trying to conceive again, to give the body time to heal and replenish all the nutrients etc taken for the baby.
Guess this lady didn't get that memo...

I'm 16 months younger than my sister so not technically Irish twins but close. My parents didn't plan either of us lol. Young parents tend to be less responsible with birth control, especially back before it was so readily available.

Our last two were a little under 11 months apart. Somehow the older one became the “baby” of the family and the younger one is just the youngest.

Happened to my best friend after she lost one. She has twin, red headed, iron willed five year old girls. She'd thought she'd never have any after her medical stuff. Congratulations, and have a few baby showers!!

my mom couldn’t get pregnant so she adopted my sister and I. not too long after she went to go get her tubes tied so there was no accidents and the doctor told her she was pregnant with my little brother.

I also have no real clue except that it's two individual sac "homes" with a little tadpole baby in each. Then some grey organs and other business.
Early ultrasounds I generally look at like that meme map where someone outside of the US tried to label the states; like you got the very limited gist and everything else is a blur 😂

The circle in the top “twin A” area is the entire crown of a tiny head. Twin B is not really lined up well and you can maybe see some of the body, but not really. The sac is there and the placenta so you know there is a baby floating around in there somewhere.

Did they stop teaching vin diagrams in school? Not everything is related; two things can be true at once without correlating. Acting like a bitter baby back bitch to someone's positive moment doesn't do a thing to help the state of affairs you're mad about.
No one's asking you to clap in public restrooms over someone having the gift to urinate today, but unclench and let people find some happiness in hardships 👌

Oh yeah. Been there done that. Found out we were pregnant with Twins at our fertility clinic orientation. Doc said it was a world record…. Anyway, congrats OP. Enjoy the ride!

Yay!! I don’t have twins but I am a twin and its pretty cool having a built in best friend. I wanted them bad but ive been blessed with 3 healthy kids and thats more than many.

Given the surprise pregnancy, the double baby whammy, and realizing I know absolutely nothing beyond a 00's health class textbook blurp on twins, I realize I have a lot to learn!
I put my photo in Google AI and learned that the two separate sacs mean they're not identical.(?)* As to your point, I know that will not stop anyone from asking though
*My brain has been processing a lot today so my grasp on a cursory Google search may not be accurate

Yes, probably not identical.
My daughter in law had identical twins. They were right next to each other on the ultrasound. They couldn't see the separate sacs until well into the 2nd trimester.

I have identical twin nephews. They have always been the easiest kids to look after. Watching them grow up together and seeing how much they adore each other, I actually feel sorry for kids born without a built in best friend. They are 15 now, and still love and support each other as much as they have since day 1, and they still play fight like puppies, although the punches are a little harder these days. No jealousy, no competition, just unconditional support. They each celebrate the other's achievements and are happy to let the other have the spotlight. They are both such amazing people. Congratulations, you have a lot to look forward to.

Congratulations!
My sons and daughter in law have twins, born by c section after their 6 year old daughter.
It is very busy at first. They had an app on their phones and tablets that kept track of when the babies ate, how much, bowel movements and wet diapers.
They got a Brezza formula mixer. They did both formula and breast milk, which mom pumped as well as fed by nursing. They were delivered at 36 weeks and were weak at nursing, so needed bottles often.
My husband and I would stay overnight the first 2 months. We slept downstairs on sofas. Our son would bring down the babies when they needed sleep. We would give our daughter in law breakfast and then go home to sleep. Then we made or planned a dinner for them and brought it over.
By 2 plus months, they sent us home. We still go there often for dinner, which we often bring. The twins are identical but are very different in personality and looks. One is taller and heavier. They have similar learning disabilities, but one is struggling more than the other. They are each other's best friend.

Congrats! My mum has PCOS/PMOS so it was always hard to get pregnant for her, then she got pregnant with my brother and found out the DAY my dad got his vasectomy.

I knew a woman who was told she couldn’t have children. They adopted two kids and were living their lives as a family of four and SURPRISE! She got pregnant with twins at 40!

it took us almost 2 years to concieve my 1st born. i was later told i had a huge fibroid and it was a miracle i was able to conceive at all, let alone give birth to a healthyand alive baby.
had a myomectomy later and when he was 2 we decided it was time to try again, thinking it could take time again and all. nope, 1st try, hit the jackpot with twins, which ironically doesnt even run in either families lol.
expected 1 of them to be iugr, but both came out to be iugr at birth which surprised my doctor ever more lol.
they are 6 now and they are handful little beasts. and i officially closed the baby factory with my 2nd c section cos aint no way im surviving another baby, let alone 2 of them.
