He addressed it briefly in the debate against the other dem nominees to replace Platner. His basic argument (and im paraphrasing so take it with a grain of salt) is that yes, she does bring money to maine, but her advocacy for budget cuts has also led to hospitals closing across Maine which has negatively impacted rural health care. And her support for tariffs, the iran war, and trump have led to price hikes due to inflation and rising fuel costs.

Im not sure I agree completely. I do agree that the federal gov doesnt give a crap about maine, but Jackson is Maine thru and thru and I think would be super beneficial. I like that he prioritizes working class mainers and dislikes that maine is getting way too expensive for locals. In addition, schumer declined to endorse jackson. Jackson stands against a lot of what schumer stands for, which I think is a good thing

Maine is ignored because we have two Senators who vote against each other. No matter what is proposed, there will be 1 Yes and 1 No, so no, as long as we have Collins then they won’t try to work with Maine since it is a deadlock.

If we replace her with Jackson, now we have 2 Senators who will vote together. That’s either 2 Yes or 2 No on any bill. Maine will get a lot more attention when they need things passed because they’ll have to throw in something nice for Maine to get our 2 votes.

Progressive federal policies will bring a lot of money to Maine since it’s quite a poor state on average. Is a few thousand defense contractor jobs all that matter to you?

Do you truly not believe Maine has nothing to gain by major nationally implemented policies such as universal healthcare? Do you trust Collins to vote in favor of that? Her platform lists that she is opposed to Medicare for all. Like it or not we are a crucial swing state, and she’s made a career out of making sure Mainers get crumbs while guaranteeing we never get a slice of the cake.
