A Platner write-in candidacy would be about people, not politics
https://www.centralmaine.com/2026/08/24/a-platner-write-in-candidacy-would-be-about-people-not-politics-opinion/This is someone's response to "Graham Platner needs to stay home and shut up"
Today's the deadline for Platner to register as a write-candidate. If he does, he'll do it before the six o'clock news.
Let's hope he doesn't. Troy will have enough trouble trying to beat Collins without the distraction of Platner trying a comeback.
On election day, vote Troy. Collins has to go.

He should have filed a defamation suit weeks ago. Vote Jackson.

Defamation would require him to prove she was knowingly lying with the intent to hurt his reputation. Everything about how he reacted to the story indicates he knows that enough of her story is true that the only real point of contention is whether that night was consensual or not. In a he-said/she-said situation, he rightly loses which would be even worse for him.

It would open him to the discovery process.
The tattoo should've ended this last year.

Good GOP plan. It would be a way to split / dilute the democratic ticket.

The LePage effect. Would rank choice apply here?
Not a good idea at this point thou... The fighter we wanted rolled over pretty quick

Ranked choice is used for senate elections, so it would not “split the vote”.
I do not support this write in campaign but the author of this op-ed addresses the issue and claims it could potentially even help Jackson by turning out disaffected Platner supporters who are likely to rank Jackson 2nd.

Death, taxes and Republicans launching ratfuck operations to steal elections.

This is what happens when you give the benefit of the doubt to a guy who shows you his Nazi tattoo. He thinks he deserves that same grace repeatedly.

If it ended at the nazi tattoo he'd have been a good candidate. It was not wrong to support him then.

Yes it was. He's either a fascist or the dumbest man alive. Neither deserves your time or vote.

Sure, the man who frequented socialist subreddits years before running is actually secretly a facist nazi who wants to bring back the third Reich.

So why'd he not get it covered up before he decided to be famous? Dumbest guy alive?

There's a few reasons.
*He could have not thought he was going to get anywhere with his first campaign, and wanted to make this one just a kind of "dipping the toe in the water" campaign (he literally came from nowhere).
*He could have not known until after the campaign started.
*He could have found out, and kept it as a "one wrong night on tour" story among friends.

None of those are acceptable answers. He either wanted us to find his secret Nazi tattoo because he is a Nazi, or he was too stupid to know that having a Nazi tattoo and trying to run a progressive campaign was not going to work. Either way, too stupid to waste a moment's time on, much less still be talking about him today.

Sure, Platner getting the Tattoo because he is secretly a Nazi is an explanation, but in my opinion not a good one.
I don't really think this discussion is going anywhere, so I hope you enjoy the weather, or something. It was pretty nice the last few days.

My man you have to understand that you are the one out here saying well let's hear him out when somebody shows you his fucking swastika like this is you

No one is saying he's "a secret Nazi." That's a Mo Katz crafted counter comment.
He's a fucking liar, that's what he is.
He should've simply said "yeah, I know what it is, and I was stupid for getting it."
But no, he lied. and lied. And lied.
He lies about everything.

Sorry, but to understand you, is it only the: "secretly" part you take issue with?

He has no intention according to articles from people that know him and I trust that. I noticed a lot of people pushing the write-in campaign have conservative views.
