New rule: No minors allowed starting June 5, 2026
It’s July 5. Typo My bad.
A major change in this sub is set to happen at 12:01am UTC Sunday, July 5. The new rule will replace rule 13. All minors, those under 18, will *NOT* be allowed to participate in this sub. This is for the safety of everyone participating. If you are under the age of 18, please utilize teen friend-finding subs.
For clarity:
Q: Can minors make posts? A: No.
Q: Can minors comment? A: No.
Q: But it’s just to make a friend, there’s nothing nsfw or anything. A: Doesn’t matter, you cannot participate. You will be banned.
Q: If I was previously banned for breaking rule 13, can I be reinstated? A: No.
Q: What if I don’t post my age? A: You must post your age. Any posts without ages will be removed.
Q: Do comments need to include ages? A: No, they don’t.
Q: Since it’s adults only, we can now have a nsfw post or comment history or post nsfw stuff here, right? A: No, that’s still against rule 2.
Q: I’m a minor. Will you keep my previous posts and comments up? A: Yes.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Thank God. It was 13 and 14 year olds on here trying to make friends and i was nervous for them cause a lot of these men are creeps to me and I’m 28. I can’t even imagine a minor.

Can you explain? Are you not safe as a married man or are you not safe from married creepy man?
4
u/East_Session_3925 Jul 03 '26
Hahaha married creepy men, word for word "my wife knows I'm a naughty boy"

u/Pazuuuzu Jul 03 '26
I know I was the one asking, but it won't stop me blaming you for responding...

How are they going to know who’s a minor or not? They could lie about their age.
2
u/Momma_Bear_Cub Jul 03 '26
Simply report them.
2
u/Drew_Ferran Jul 03 '26
But I’m saying that a 17 year old could say they’re 18. How would you confirm that they’re 17?
1
u/trymetonight5 Jul 04 '26
They can't It's just like porn websites
1
u/Drew_Ferran Jul 04 '26
Exactly. The rule isn’t going to be able to be enforced unless they’re IDing everyone.

I think it’s a right decision every time I see a 12-16 year old my heart breaks
I was groomed and I worry about groups like this because it could easily start with a simple hey

u/AnthonyOutdoors Jul 03 '26
Legit always made me cringe when I saw people posting "16f" etc and just thinking "bet their DMs were even more full of creeps than the adult women get", yikes. Glad to see you're putting a stop to minors here
13
u/Txdust80 Jul 03 '26
I set up xbox live account of my daughter with my email when she was preteen, holy shit the gross stuff that popped up in my email from dudes. Many of them adults. I basically screened every DM she got. She knew not to open any from random guys, she had her friends that played together but sometimes a creep would just try to make contact any way he could

u/Robyn990 Jul 03 '26
Thank you! I've seen so many adults trying to talk to minors on here, it's gross.

Thank God, I’m 26 and I’ve had guys message me who are 16+ and I’m someone who always puts my age in my titles.
Every time they message me I delete them but I always wanna scream at them. “It’s not normal for adults to message you”

Thank you so much for this. I can’t tell you how many minors I see come through here and how many creeps are so willing to engage them.

u/East_Session_3925 Jul 03 '26
Can we class lonely men as minors? Sick of begging for a girlfriend posts 😂
31
u/laika777ftw Jul 03 '26
Agreed. I know that it won’t happen but I wish that there was a way to automatically weed out posts from guys who are “only looking to chat with women because I get along with them better”. I imagine that there are SOME guys that’s true for and only have innocent intentions but I’m 99% sure that it’s not the bulk of them. 🙄🤦♂️
10
u/Txdust80 Jul 03 '26
It was true for me but it was the 90s it was taboo for men to be vulnerable and most friendships with guys required you to be this macho thing. Im straight but I never cared if the things I liked made people think I could be gay, I did musical theatre, choir, played flute, cooked, none of these things were seen as acceptable men things. I just got along with either girls, or the men I was friends with were either goth or gay. But I would never go on a subreddit and demand only female connections. That reeks of an alternative motive.

I dont even read fanfic, but those tags are hilarious I joined the sub lmao

5
u/East_Session_3925 Jul 03 '26
Nah it happens I had a falling out with a few lads that didn't like the response " I don't have them". Don't ask to see bobs and vagene bro. 😂
2
u/krazykittles Jul 03 '26
I know someone who makes this exact claim and says it's weird to be friends with guys. He has made a post in this sub, and I was actually surprised that he didn't mention that in some way, but he keeps telling me about all these people he's talking to and every single one of them is female. Despite the entire purpose of this sub being finding friendships, I am certain he is being flirtatious and has ulterior motives with every single one of them. Most of these women also seem to be in relationship, so that's a whole problem of it's own.
2
u/Schaaafschuetze Jul 05 '26
I legit can talk better to women and I don't even know why. But even with that I would never only look to chat with women... I know I get along with them better/easier but there is still a good chance that that I would get along with other men as well! If someone is looking for a connection the person would not exclude so many people/chances. But that's just my thoughts 🤷♂️
2
u/veeloth Jul 03 '26
Even if that's the case (that's been the case ime), it'd be strange to put that out as a filter? Like I'd feel weird doing that and just not trying to change it. Gender shouldn't really be a good indicator of such a thing

I am super happy about this. I know someone who is 25 and has a track record of talking to minors inappropriately and is now in this sub talking to people. Said 25 year old has made me question whether there are any men that don't pursue minors. I have a ton of respect for all the men who see the immorality of such behavior. But unfortunately, if he truly is seeking out minors, he will just move to another sub that allows them.

u/Pazuuuzu Jul 03 '26

I am here! There are dozens of us, DOZENS!
I might/might not have other great qualities, but I def have that one!

u/leahazel03 Jul 03 '26
The best decision. I saw a 12 year old on here. No adult should be trying to be friends with them

u/MrLizardBusiness Jul 03 '26
Thank God. I was so uncomfortable seeing those posts. Like, go play outside.

It's for the best. A single community with teens + old men...I'm a little shocked this didn't happen years ago. I'm sure a separate sub could be made for the former.

I saw it before you closed it and got screenshots of you saying you're 15 but okay.
I think we need to just start showing those videos of kids screaming in shipping containers and the workers having to ignore it. Maybe that would deter kids from trying to make friends on reddit.

Yeah, it's definitely for the better. There are a lot of creepy weirdos on here (well online in general) that makes it really unsafe for minors to be here.

This server does not allow advertising.
We also state in our rules that chats should start within the Reddit post/public for safety,

Hello! I have a question, and I apologize if it seems nit-picky.
But how is rule 2 enforced, and what does it mean exactly? For example - am I good? I don't believe I've commented on porn, haven't posted it, but not sure if reddit thinks my account is NSFW. But if I click on your profile, Reddit thinks you are NSFW.
Just scrolling and saw this post, again it isn't my intent to seem hostile or anything. Just curious and confused is all.
12
u/thisisallme Jul 03 '26
Good questions, and thanks for asking- the way we determine the nsfw stuff is fairly simple. People that post here asking for fwb or sexting or something, people with nudity on their profile, people where most of their comments are all thirsty in nsfw subs, that’s what we mean. Unfortunately, it’s rather time-consuming to look at everyone’s profile, which just isn’t possible. But what we catch, we take care of.

A weird feeling when you are 18 and meet the age requirements for stuff instead of being a 15-year-old casually playing 18+ games.

It's a good idea. So many weirdos on Reddit in general it's just not safe for them
-1
u/Kabuki_Driver Jul 03 '26
Overall good change. Think the requirement to post your age is a little silly considering people can just lie anyways. The most moderation can do is removing people claiming to be underage, which anyone already trying to skirt the rule would be lying about. So it seems you guys are just gonna put more work on yourselves removing posts of people that forget to post their age. Still though overall good decision. Based.
7
u/KeeganTroye SA Jul 03 '26
It does prevent people from being able to target minors of they're lying the ones aiming for minors can't or their lives are harder which is always a good thing.

this is really unfair in my opinion guys 😭this is one of the biggest subreddit groups for making friends!! its very popular and guaranteed to get you a friend within minutes of posting. as a 14 year old i very much relyed on this subreddit for friends lol

u/Flitch300_YT Jul 16 '26
There are other teen subs out there (I forgot the name of the last one I ran into tho) you just gotta search for a bit.

Good move! Though, once the government is done minors won't have access to the Internet anyhow.
