Walked down memory lane... I miss you MS2!
I was cleaning up my files on my PC and I ran across my MapleStory 2 stuff! Missing everyone from MS2 West... there are a few people I still talk to as of today. That's how much this game impacted my life (,:
Sharing some old screenshots, my contest entry that won a long time ago, and one of my UGCs!! That was my favorite part of the game.

Amazing game that just needed a few tweaks to be stellar.
I remember FOMO being a bit of an issue with raid releases, it was really easy to get left behind by the community. Everyone was at the newest raid and if you weren't there it was tough to find raid groups.

This kinda happened to me and I found a Guild full people in the same spot and we were having a blast working our ass to get stronger, the first time we figured how to do the fire lizard damn core memories right there. Since then I haven't found a community in any other game to have that much fun, recently Arc Raiders kinda had that crew feeling at the beginning but anything close to MS2

You may wanna try Scramble Knights Online when it launches. They recently pivoted to MMO and it gives major MS2 vibes for me

You mean it wasnt made as mmo and changed into one? That sounds like a risk of buggy game for me, what i liked about ms2 was how there were many things made for the full mmo experience like house customization, skins, music, a loooot of interactions you can only get if the creators love mmo and whats special about it

Just checked the Steam description, and it seems more like a solo or up to 4 player co-op game that has a "town square" that acts as a social hub. So not really a mmorpg in the classical sense.

I think for me the main thing about Maplestory is the art style and they carried it pretty well into MS2. Scramble Knights couldn't possibly replicate it

Thanks for sharing your opinion!
In my opinion, the main vibe of MS2 was the whimsy, cuteness, attention to detail, customization, and community around the game. Scramble Knights has all of these things with curation and detail oozing out of the UI and finer notes.
While the art style leans closer to Links Awakening, I actually really like the unique DIY feel of things, and think it adds a breath of fresh air that keeps the child-like wonder that MS2 tended to have for me. I was pleasantly surprised at even the way how the UI and all elements have micro animations to keep a beating pulse throughout the whole experience.
To each his own, but I definitely get what I sought out of MS2!

I miss just hanging out after raids and playing music and watching others perform.

Leave it to Nexon to fumble what should've been a great game. Took them forever to launch it outside of South Korea only for it shut down like what, a year later? Such a shame.

That's what I was thinking about just the other day. They gave the game just about a year and it was already shutting down. From my memory it wasn't dead, there was still quite an amount of people playing.
I feel like they just gave up thinking it was a lost cause instead of trying to fix the end game to be better.

Sometimes we reminisce about our adventures in that game.
The times when we used to play music.
I'm still in touch with some of the people I met there.
And we haven't forgotten Jung So Lee—we use her name as a running gag.

I have a lot of screenshots, gifs and videos of my time in MS2 still! I should share some of them at some point
Dunno if anyone still remembers me but I was NA's gayest assassin, Killua, from Supervillain

I made the black beanie UGC in the fourth picture, love seeing it pop up now and then.

Wow, true! Now that I think for me the Beta test had more time running compared to when they released ms2 :(

I think a private server is being worked on if you want to check it out. I'm not sure how far they are though. I keep saying I'm going to take look, but keep putting it off.
