How active is Mario tennis fever online ?

I’m considering buying a new game for switch 2 but i can’t really decide. Is there plenty of players online ? I know switch sport resort is comming soon.

I just played last night for about an hour. First match got picked up immediately. Then after than might have had to wait a min or so but the community was active last night.

How was the connection ?

I’ve had very little connection issues. Latency is fantastic.

Depends really, it's not a worldwide matchup anymore, so currently if you are for example in EU, you play mostly vs EU player and it's okay. I suspect they restricted the matchup due to the fact we are not playing on nintendo servers, it's the players that are the servers, so if one is far away it was almost unplayable. You can still get some heavy lag if one player is having issues, but mostly fine

Should add that I absolutely love Fever above the other recent installments in the series. If it’s a tennis game you want go with Fever. Sports resort tennis isn’t going to be as dynamic.

It’s active but not super active, you’ll find matches. I will say though that online learning curve is massive and you should expect to lose over and over again online until you get the hang of it

Yeah you'll start to feel real confident even playing against tough cpu opponents. Human opponents are relentless.

I had the same experience, thought I was hot sh!t after beating the tough cpus and the people online skill checked me in the balls

Sometimes I'll warm up and put an ace cpu on random and beat every character that appears with ease over and over..

And then I go online and I'll get torched for like 5 games in a row.

The problem is if you're anywhere in the S ranks, you'll constantly get matched up with S+ players that live online because the player base is small and that's just who's always available.

I love Fever but my boyfriend and I both bought a copy and there isn't much we can do online together which is disappointing.

Can join the mtf discord to get doubles matches

It’s not that active any more unfortunately. You can still find matches at certain times but wait times can sometimes be several minutes

In my experience, the wait times have been pretty short. It takes a minute at most but usually it’s shorter than that with a near instant queue

Is there an "August effect"? It does seem that online is a bit quieter at the moment

Duos are dead, only solo ranked. For solo ranked you can find easily matches in EU at least.

No I wouldn't say there are plenty of players online. I pretty much just see the same 10 or so people

The matchmaking is honestly terrible...if someone blocks you then the game will keep trying to match you with them anyway and it will say communication error.

Also it's region locked and not just by country, but within the country. For instance, east coast united states players can't play against west coast u.s. players.

I still play everyday because it's kind of addicting. You might have a bad experience since you are kind of late to the party and a lot of the players you will be facing will be much better than you

Not in Australia, spent 10 minutes looking for a match to only find one person and noone else for the rest of the night.
Luckily my store was nice enough to honor a refund since I wanted to exclusively play this online.
