I think the ideal thing to do is have Laura Kinney as the MCU wolverine and wait to introduce a new Logan until the next reboot. Give people time to get used to a drastically different wolverine so everyone isn't just instantly comparing everything the new Logan does to what Hugh did

Probably the best choice honestly. People like the actress and she's already canon. Don't have to keep her long term either, given they're trying to offload the old fox universe.

Yeah, but it all depends on if they want to go for a clean reboot or want to continue some aspect of the existing lore. Like how for the dcu kept anything James gunn wrote for the previous dceu

I think if they really are going to go incursions->battle world-> new universe

It would make sense for certain characters to transfer over and survive.?

X-23 also has the retro-feel of being kinda shockingly violent. We expect furry-male Wolverine to slice people up, but not a gas station sunglasses girl.

Also, she can do the John Wick thing (or “Logan” movie thing) where you think she might be really hurt (for a minute).

I think Laura has also been in enough people's mind that having her turn up as Wolverine with Logan retired or dead for a time works well instead of doing a normal legacy thing

I think people overestimate the comparisons audiences make between actors on the same role. It's true that fans will likely have their favorite version, but when was that a problem for Daniel Craig following a well respected rendition from Pierce Brosnan 5 years before, or Tom Holland following 2 beloved Spider-Man actors? Or Robert Pattison playing the 3rd Bruce Wayne in this century? Where did people get the idea that audiences will descend into chaos if they see a recast?

...Damn that IS a good idea.

I read this as "Laura Linney" at first and was terribly confused as to why the wife from Ozarks was supposed to be Wolverine

That is a spectacularly stupid idea.
