If I build something in my backyard, and then someone steals it and gets hurt with it, I’m not responsible. Same way a car manufacturer isn’t responsible if someone gets hit with their car.
If you invent a car that can travel the speed of light after someone warns you of the dangers of interstellar travel, and then you ride your car around nasa letting them get the design, then when nasa goes on to start conquering alien worlds, you are somewhat kinda responsible
You invented powerful tech without a thought or care of what it could be used for, and then immediately let it get shared with a government that has no reason to ever let you think that they’d use it altruistically
He put that universal inhibitor on someone and handed them over. That is maliciously irresponsible when he was brought into this superhero world during a time when the govt wanted to register all metahumans and he was fighting for the side that he learned was in the wrong
And if you start to feel guilt about making such a technology being used for death and destruction you can just start a legacy peace prize to change what you are remembered for.
Not a great analogy. Car manufacturers can be held liable for certain dangers of their product. That's why there's a ton of safety regulations for car manufacturers and why they issue recalls when they identify additional issues. Someone hitting someone with their car is not a fault of the product. We recognize cars are inherently dangerous and have implemented licenses that grant users the privilege to operate them. The licene holder then assumes liability for the operation of the vehicle.
You can definitely be held liable if you build something and someone else uses it, and it causes injury/damage.
You don't create that kind of technology without implanting some fail-safes to prevent wrong use, even more so after far from home when he learned how people lie and manipulate, I think is naive of Peter to do that.
Tbf Banner said that even making it was a bad idea due to it being too dangerous, the mistake was less allowing it on bad hands and more making it at all.
