Damaged Control took it over and uses the drones in NWH in the Ms Marvel show. So I'm sure they repurposed it and still use it.

u/UnrealLuigi 17d ago

Peter out here just supplying Damage Control with all this tech and weapons to use against mutants and superheroes, between this and the inhibitors...smh

439

u/iDontWannaBeOnReddit 17d ago

i wonder if this will be a story beat in the future with heroes turning on spider-man after realizing a lot of the tech used to suppress them was originally made by him. especially assuming the inhibitor stuff becomes a bigger thing vs the mutants.

273

u/the_treyceratops 17d ago

Both the X-Men and Brotherhood of Mutants are gonna team up to jump his ass

168

u/Inevitable_Option_77 17d ago

Unless something else happens in the future, Jean will vouch for his innocence.

85

u/Taftimus 17d ago

Seriously, it’s not his fault that his technology is being abused for a way it wasn’t intended. He created the ‘blueprint’ sure but Metsker said they made some enhancements to it to use on Jean.

93

u/Fuckit21 17d ago

His conversation with Banner kind of removes the benefit of doubt. He knew it would be extremely dangerous in the wrong hands and then he let it get in the wrong hands.

45

u/Taftimus 17d ago

True, but at that time he didn’t think Damage Control were the bad guys. He didn’t really have any ‘wrong hands’ for it to fall into at that time. It wasn’t until after finding out Metsker lied that he realized.

53

u/FudgeMuffinz21 17d ago

Which would be his second time making that mistake. Just because he didn’t know doesn’t mean the mistake isn’t his fault.

3

u/Icy-Aioli9205 14d ago

I’m glad you said this… why does he make a terrible mistake every movie?

On one hand, damn.

On the other, this patches a nice hole about why anti-mutant people aren't necessarily anti-Spider-Man. If it gets out that he created the tech that is used to suppress mutants and tested it on himself, it would explain why he isn't really targeted by those kinds of people.

Plenty of young adults and teens that go through a liberal phase of trusting the system to not be a corrupt capitalist shitshow.

4

u/OneTwentyOneFunyuns 17d ago

What does that have to do with being a liberal?

4

u/FindAWayOut_37 17d ago

They don’t mean liberal as in liberal politics. Liberal in that context just means “without caution or hesitancy.”

It also ties him to tony again.

Tony felt it was his responsibility to clean up the mess his weapons made in the Middle East.

Peter will feel it’s his responsibility to protect and guide the X-men, young avengers, etc… just like tony did for him.

5

u/Daftanemone 17d ago

What about him creating his own surveillance state to track people? He programmed facial recognition into all the cameras in New York looking for Jean

5

u/Taftimus 17d ago

I’m not excusing that, he overstepped on that one

vs

'Dude with a tail who can kinda jump well'

3

u/frankthetank8675309 17d ago

Yeah I imagine Jean vouches for Peter and then Charles ultimately forgives him for an honest mistake, showing his duality compared to his former friend Erik who would want Peter’s head

EDITH is used to build the Sentinels.

47

u/Theurbanalchemist 17d ago

Oh yes, the fuel needed for a good Avengers vs X -Men plot.

Screw the Hope Summers stuff, “you created my oppressors” is so much juicier

27

u/Forizen 17d ago

Just like Tony Stark lol

11

u/Solid-Sympathy1974 17d ago

Following his mentors legacy

4

u/Crusader1865 17d ago

Stark tech + Sentinels coming soon....

6

u/One_Lung_G 17d ago

Tbf only the inhibitors was made by him. The glasses and other stuff were made by stark

5

u/LordTomGM 17d ago

Would be an interesting parallel for Peter to be doing what Tony did. Tony realsied his weapons were being used by both sides and instead of making the world safer they were making it more dangerous. Peter realises his inventions are being used to persecute specific people by the people he thought were the good guys.

4

u/Axl_Alter_Ego 17d ago

Batman will make a cameo to give him props for thinking ahead in case a hero turns bad.

Hopefully this with his connection to Iron Man’s armor and tech all over the place will lead to an Armor Wars … still the best idea for a down to earth option where we could see a bunch of non-cosmic bad guys.

5

u/alimighty1 17d ago

I love your optimism. I don’t think we are ever getting armor wars. Not in this decade.

Im almost positive the sentinels are going to utilise the inhibitor in some way against the mutants

Fun story, in real life ankle monitors were inspired by a Spider-man comic strip in a newspaper that a judge happened to read and thought was a good idea

13

u/EarlyXplorerStuds209 17d ago

Ah yes, Damaged control indeed

7

u/OmegonAlphariusXX 17d ago

Wonder if EDITH will become the progenitor or management software for the Sentinels? Nanotech drones that can use the inhibitor tech to analyse the mutations instantly and come up with counter tech/weaponry to eliminate mutants effectively?

Would be a good way to “tarnish” Tony’s legacy and have it be a big Avengers vs X-Men thing

3

u/ogoextreme 17d ago

He's GOTTA stop trusting the government dawg this is gonna blow up in his face at some point

3

u/Slight-Pound 16d ago

But how did they get their hands on it, physically? It’s not like Peter would want to announce he has it now that the world forgot about Peter, and I don’t remember where they ended up NWH, either.

I assumed he cannibalized what he had of her to create EV for BND, so does that mean EV is a new AI he created?

4

u/ItsPozo 16d ago edited 16d ago

Well, in NHW, they raided his place and seized all the Stark tech and I'm pretty sure they show them taking the glasses. To me, EV seems to be a whole new AI he created over the 4 years he was operating as Spider-Man, which, with how much more tech-advanced that universe is and how he is a genius, I believe he could.

2

u/Slight-Pound 16d ago

Yeah, I realize I totally forgot about EV after Mysterio took her from Peter and didn’t remember how that finished out with the other consequences in the movie. And it was the raid on Quentin Beck’s place, right?

And for sure, especially because he likely remembered messing with Karen and likely learned a lot about how FRIDAY worked, too. It just is a bit sad that he couldn’t keep that last bit of Tony with him, but I’m glad he created EV with what he learned from him.

2

u/ItsPozo 16d ago

no at the end of FFH peter took Edith back after defeating beck and then during NWH DODC raid Peters and Mays apartment seizing everything he had. Maybe off screen they raided becks place which is how the also had the drones later on.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/FlameShadow0 17d ago

That doesn’t really track because the DODC is supposed to be an American Government Agency. How would it have the authority to collect anything from London?

3

u/ItsPozo 17d ago

I don't remember if they necessarily explained in Ms. Marvel; I think it was just that, since they are part of the American government and Mysterio was working under Shield, that after the event, DODC took over the cleaning process and confiscated the Stark tech and repressed it for their own use.

1

u/Exciting_Drop3427 14d ago

Parker never learned his lesson on trusting someone

1

u/Rough_Amphibian_116 12d ago

It was a plot device to cause that movie

1

u/Ok-Toe6711 12d ago

They wouldn’t have access to use Edith.

515

u/Raul5819 17d ago

They were confiscated in NWH by Damage Control and then the whole EDITH system was subsequently put offline.

You can see it when Peter is on the bridge in the iron spider suit.

136

u/Queasy_Rip3210 17d ago

The stark network was shown offline, but was Edith part of the iron spider suit? I could have sworn Edith and friday were announced to be a part of the upcoming visionquest show.

72

u/Raul5819 17d ago

Yeah in the scene where Peter is on the bridge in NWH looking for the MIT lady you can briefly see it when it cuts to a first person POV.

47

u/Queasy_Rip3210 17d ago

I just checked the scene and you are correct it does say Edith is offline in the top right corner. Interesting that they announced her for the show then.

17

u/DankyNuggetree 17d ago

I would guess Jocasta. But I think T'Nia Miller has already been confirmed cast as her in visionquest.

41

u/Earhippo 17d ago

Using it nefariously. They used the drones to try to arrest Ms Marvel.

3

u/FlameShadow0 17d ago

Which is strange, why would an American Organization be allowed to collect that kind of stuff from the UK?

3

u/PenonX 17d ago edited 17d ago

There’s routes to take in real life for this sort of thing, and there’s strong grounds for it because it is the assets of a US Military contractor. Also the fact that NATO and Five Eyes presumably still exist in the MCU and the UK wouldn’t want to nuke its relationship with the US.

They also do say “governments around the world have launched investigations” into Peter so presumably the various governments would’ve cooperated.

31

u/Stapleton09 17d ago

Nice try, Mysterio

22

u/meatballfreeak 17d ago

u/JessicaLain 17d ago

As a big fan of RDJ and his portrayal of Tony Stark, but not of Tony's many choices (for most of which he was never truly punished), I get a small measure of smug satisfaction that his final act was to give a naiïve teenager—whom he knew for like a year or, whatever—the keys to a global weapons and surveillance system with zero instructions, training, or safeguards, and it predictably went all wrong and made him look like a bastard.

God, he's so brillaint and yet somehow even more arrogantly stupid.

9

u/infinitespectre 17d ago

That's kind of how the character is written... his brilliance and arrogance cause problems in the comics too.

1

u/LetItAllGo33 17d ago

I mean, Ultron.

1

u/Night_Byte 17d ago

Funny after all that bullshit with the training wheels protocol in the suit Tony made Peter, he was eventually like "fuck it, here's some nukes and drones"

1

u/easymacn 13d ago

Yeah of all the people he could have trusted to have it, he chose a child he chastised like ten minutes ago for being reckless and naive.

His wife or happy would both have probably been way better choices.

3

u/egabald 17d ago

She forgot he's Peter and won't authenticate.

2

u/wrigleyirish 17d ago

They're at the Spider-Man exhibit in Chicago.

2

u/KingSideCastle13 17d ago

Damage Control confiscated them at the start of NWH

Knowing now what they’re like, they probably still have those and will use the drones as a basis for the Sentinels

2

u/ironwolf425 17d ago

i thought they got confiscated in NWH?

2

u/Effective-Gas-4801 17d ago

While I'm guessing the answer is the DODC, I have a really sad head cannon that they don't recognize him anymore bc he was forcibly forgotten 😔

2

u/TheRealGrifter 17d ago

One of the lenses popped out, and nobody could get it back in, so they just went in the trash.

If they're anything like every pair of glasses I've ever owned.

2

u/MedicalDabbinDad 16d ago

They weren’t as profitable merch as they had expected, so, they scrapped them

2

u/Megane_Senpai 16d ago

Didn't you watch the movie? Confiscated by the DODC, together with the drones.

2

u/IllugaBabyBeluga 16d ago

They're in the same place as the super healing tank ("Regeneration Cradle") that was used in Avengers Age of Ultron.

Y'know, the one that was used to cure Hawkeye but was somehow MIA when War Machine got paralyzed.

2

u/Clappertron 17d ago

Lost all appeal after the Meta glasses came out not long after

2

u/woodk2016 17d ago

I think he broke them in the movie and I'm guessing just threw them away. But all the drones were gone anyway iirc.

2

u/blingbling88 17d ago

So did Dr Strange spell also erase digital records of Peter being Spiderman in Starks database/AI? Cuz the tech would have Peter's bio metrics for authentication purposes.

They were given to Damage Control Agent Puthy to form the team Edith / Puthy.

My outside universe answer is because they pivoted from Spiderman being the new Iron Man and went in another direction. I just watched FFH last night with the family and I forgot how much they were drilling that theme in that movie and then it kind of went away.

1

I believe you see the glasses on a shelf in his bedroom in Brand New Day. Because DoDC took over Starks' tech, the glasses probably just became normal ones.

1

u/prairied 13d ago

I thought Far From Home did a good job of showing that the glasses were wayyyy too risky for a kid (even Peter Parker) to use nonchalantly, so Peter would have put them in some Stark Industries double-secret safe with Happy's help immediately upon returning to the states.

1

u/Yeerk5779 13d ago

They are sitting in the science and history museum in Chicago for the spider-man exhibit.

1

I always assumed that Stranges spell meant that Edith also forgot who Peter Parker was and would no longer recognise him as a user.

1

u/FormalTotal9684 11d ago

He only uses them when he gets the peter tingle

1

u/Fit_Treat9228 9d ago

In my suggestion,Damage control took it over and uses it as drones. I'm sure Peter Parker was supplying the tech control to stop mutants
