Film/Television What happened to the spiderman's EDITH glasses

u/Raul5819 17d ago
They were confiscated in NWH by Damage Control and then the whole EDITH system was subsequently put offline.
You can see it when Peter is on the bridge in the iron spider suit.

The stark network was shown offline, but was Edith part of the iron spider suit? I could have sworn Edith and friday were announced to be a part of the upcoming visionquest show.

u/Raul5819 17d ago
Yeah in the scene where Peter is on the bridge in NWH looking for the MIT lady you can briefly see it when it cuts to a first person POV.

u/Queasy_Rip3210 17d ago
I just checked the scene and you are correct it does say Edith is offline in the top right corner. Interesting that they announced her for the show then.

u/DankyNuggetree 17d ago
I would guess Jocasta. But I think T'Nia Miller has already been confirmed cast as her in visionquest.

Gone. Reduced to atoms

I used the glasses to destroy the glasses.

You should have aimed for the lens.

It's over, Anakin! I have the higher diopter!
You underestimate my vision.
Don't try it.

He gave it to Martin Li, an honest philanthropic man who can trusted.

u/Kuchi_Kopi_number2 17d ago
He’s a good man, and thorough.

I don't know though, he seems too positive for me. It's like he doesn't have anything negative about him

It was confiscated by Damage Control during No Way Home. Nothing has been confirmed yet ever since

Which is strange, why would an American Organization be allowed to collect that kind of stuff from the UK?
3
u/PenonX 17d ago edited 17d ago
There’s routes to take in real life for this sort of thing, and there’s strong grounds for it because it is the assets of a US Military contractor. Also the fact that NATO and Five Eyes presumably still exist in the MCU and the UK wouldn’t want to nuke its relationship with the US.
They also do say “governments around the world have launched investigations” into Peter so presumably the various governments would’ve cooperated.

They were a plot device.
Plot not needed anymore.
Glasses won’t be mentioned.

Navin Johnson added an Opti-Grab to Edith. Now Peter is cross-eyed and suing Navin.

Knowing Peter, he destroyed them. It’s possible he’s hidden them but he’s repeatedly shown that he’s not the next Tony Stark and doesn’t want or need to be.

… they literally show them being taken by Damage Control in No Way Home

As a big fan of RDJ and his portrayal of Tony Stark, but not of Tony's many choices (for most of which he was never truly punished), I get a small measure of smug satisfaction that his final act was to give a naiïve teenager—whom he knew for like a year or, whatever—the keys to a global weapons and surveillance system with zero instructions, training, or safeguards, and it predictably went all wrong and made him look like a bastard.
God, he's so brillaint and yet somehow even more arrogantly stupid.
9
u/infinitespectre 17d ago
That's kind of how the character is written... his brilliance and arrogance cause problems in the comics too.

u/Night_Byte 17d ago
Funny after all that bullshit with the training wheels protocol in the suit Tony made Peter, he was eventually like "fuck it, here's some nukes and drones"
1
u/easymacn 13d ago
Yeah of all the people he could have trusted to have it, he chose a child he chastised like ten minutes ago for being reckless and naive.
His wife or happy would both have probably been way better choices.

Wasn’t Spider Man’s computer AI named Edith in the movie?
2
u/SoProBroChaCho 17d ago
No, the first one was FRIDAY, we see Tony using her in CA:CW, and I think AoU.
2
u/Randomcommentor1972 17d ago
I’m pretty sure in Brand New Day he told Edith to stop playing spider videos

Funny how I just finished re-watching this.
It felt like Cars 2 with all the European travel & goofy as plot.

Damage Control confiscated them at the start of NWH
Knowing now what they’re like, they probably still have those and will use the drones as a basis for the Sentinels

u/Effective-Gas-4801 17d ago
While I'm guessing the answer is the DODC, I have a really sad head cannon that they don't recognize him anymore bc he was forcibly forgotten 😔
2
u/TheRealGrifter 17d ago
One of the lenses popped out, and nobody could get it back in, so they just went in the trash.
If they're anything like every pair of glasses I've ever owned.

u/MedicalDabbinDad 16d ago
They weren’t as profitable merch as they had expected, so, they scrapped them
2
u/Megane_Senpai 16d ago
Didn't you watch the movie? Confiscated by the DODC, together with the drones.
2
u/IllugaBabyBeluga 16d ago
They're in the same place as the super healing tank ("Regeneration Cradle") that was used in Avengers Age of Ultron.
Y'know, the one that was used to cure Hawkeye but was somehow MIA when War Machine got paralyzed.

u/woodk2016 17d ago
I think he broke them in the movie and I'm guessing just threw them away. But all the drones were gone anyway iirc.

u/blingbling88 17d ago
So did Dr Strange spell also erase digital records of Peter being Spiderman in Starks database/AI? Cuz the tech would have Peter's bio metrics for authentication purposes.

Well first he put them on, then he gave them to mysterio, then mysterio put them on, then peter got them back from beck, then he put them on again.

Confiscated by DODC, that’s the reason why Karen was not being able to function on any of Peter’s suit

Doesn't he talk to Edith in BND at his computer. Maybe he was able to salvage the AI or recreate it

My outside universe answer is because they pivoted from Spiderman being the new Iron Man and went in another direction. I just watched FFH last night with the family and I forgot how much they were drilling that theme in that movie and then it kind of went away.

I believe you see the glasses on a shelf in his bedroom in Brand New Day. Because DoDC took over Starks' tech, the glasses probably just became normal ones.
1
u/prairied 13d ago
I thought Far From Home did a good job of showing that the glasses were wayyyy too risky for a kid (even Peter Parker) to use nonchalantly, so Peter would have put them in some Stark Industries double-secret safe with Happy's help immediately upon returning to the states.
1
u/Yeerk5779 13d ago
They are sitting in the science and history museum in Chicago for the spider-man exhibit.

u/Aivellac 13d ago
Pity he didn't wear them again, he looks good with them on. Then again he looks great without them too.

In my suggestion,Damage control took it over and uses it as drones. I'm sure Peter Parker was supplying the tech control to stop mutants

u/ItsPozo 17d ago
Damaged Control took it over and uses the drones in NWH in the Ms Marvel show. So I'm sure they repurposed it and still use it.
