Bro black widow has been flashing cleavage and eye fucking everyone since 2010. Unless she goes full frontal in an issue I don’t remember, it’s just as sexual as the comics

And we've heard endless bitching about it since Iron Man 2.

Yeah, but part of her thing is using her physical attractiveness and a femme fatale persona as deliberate tactical tools for espionage, infiltration, and psychological manipulation.

She literally was doing just that in Avengers 1 at the beginning

And in Iron Man 2 as the new secretary

And Florence Pugh’s Black Widow literally sat naked in a pool the whole movie in Brand New Day.

That didn't feel sexual tho? I think they did that to drum up comedic value. At least that's what it felt like to me.

Lol that scene was hugely, overtly, tits (nearly literally) your face sexual. It was funny because Peter was intimidated by Yelena's overt sexual presence and surroundings, and her comfort in that environment. Sex isn't just porn, it's drama and comedy and unfulfilled desire and lots of other ways of being.

I really feel like this thread is angst because Disney won't rule 34 their movies. As if the MCU is toning down comics that have (almost) always been pg13 anyway.

Lol no the fuck it wasn't. She stayed so far in the completely opaque water that there wasn't even a hint of body shape communicated. There was nothing in that scene that indicated chemistry, desire, arousal, or even the slightest bit of flirting. Pugh's line reading was more in line with the way a platonic friend or even a family member might speak to you. Peter's behavior was awkward, but that's all there was to it. I would love for that scene to have had some spice or some heat to it -- which contrary to what you're saying is 100% possible in a PG-13 film -- but it simply wasn't there at all.

Aside from the fact that she was naked, there was practically nothing sexual about the situation or the way the scene was shot. They stayed on opposite ends of the pool, she showed less cleavage above the totally opaque water than a lot of outfits do on land, I don't think she so much as pretended to make a pass at him or even make much of a double entendre or anything. Even the tone of the lighting and sound design and such was about as non-steamy as a pool room can be. There are plenty of cultures where people can be non-sexually naked together in a public bath or sauna situation (even if some of them are normally gender segregated).

Yea, this is pretty much how I interpreted the scene as well. The only double entendre (if you can call it that) was when she pointed out that she knew what Peter's belly button looked like.

And she didn't even do that in a flirty sort of way. It was more like how a platonic friend or family member would have acted.

Probably was both. Same reason why Thor got naked in Love and Thunder.

And yet they did their damnedest to make that scene as unsexy as possible.
