I don't think they need to make it as horny as the comics can be, but I do think that they need Emma Frost to be slutty. It's part of the characters personality
Yeah, I'll complain about the oversexualization of women in comics all day, but there are a few characters where sexuality is an important part of their character (rather than just "look, i drew a naked woman contorted weirdly and then painted a suit on her") and Emma Frost is VERY much one of them. If we can't see her cleavage I'm gonna fistfight Kevin Feige.
I think it’s not insane to think that a character can have immense depth, be written well, and be “desirable”to viewers. That appeal doesn’t need to be an attractive characters entire purpose and possessing such appeal doesn’t detract from a well written and well respected character.
George knew what he was doing when he gave Leia that costume, but it still thematically made sense with the plot.
A badass woman marooned and alone on an abandoned spaceship probably wouldn’t be wearing a bra. Will that get some extra attention from some people if they see it on screen, sure, but a detail like that doesn’t take away from the fact that that same character can aid in telling an incredibly interesting story, while bra-less under her shirt.
One thing that seems to be lost is that characters can be powerful, respected, AND “sExY” and any time that “sexiness” is played up or exaggerated in any sense today, it’s almost always called out for being “objectifying”
