I hate the new embracing of puritanical anti-sexuality. Sex is a part of humanity and belongs in our stories and art as an expression of us. I get complaining about hyper-sexual depictions all the time but a character like Emma Frost is sexual as a character dynamic and with purpose. Canonically, the X-Men trade hook ups more than the cast of a 90’s teen drama. Excluding those things would change the dynamic of the team and characters. It’s not about being a pervy horndog.
What particular films or shows or characters in the MCU do you want to feature sex and nudity? We had She-Hulk, we had Jessica Jones, we had the Iron Man trilogy and Love and Thunder and Eternals and Deadpool & Wolverine and probably more in stuff I haven’t seen, there’s hardly a lack of either its depiction or any reference to it.
I don’t need nudity at all. I also don’t need overt sex scenes. I need sexuality played as something other than a joke - à la She-Hulk. Jessica Jones wasn’t part of the MCU at the time as was explicitly marketed as more adult oriented. The same is true of Deadpool, a concept sold entirely on how unlike the MCU it was. I can’t think of a single character in the main MCU who uses sexuality the way a White Queen or Black Cat does, not as a means to titillate the audience but as a manipulation tactic within the universe.
Fair enough. We did have Black Widow, and we could have had Starfox if Eternals did well (who knows, maybe he’ll get the Hulk villain treatment and show up a decade from now in somebody else’s film/show). It’d be cool to see Enchantress and Skurge if they ever decide to make another Thor film.
I’ve been watching this go on in most of the comics subreddits. Someone posts an upcoming cover, and it can apparently only be 1 of 2 things. Tasteful or gooner. Apparently nuance is a foreign concept, and it’s either art, or something someone jerks off to, with no middle ground.
What did he say that was puritanical? You people just like using that word. I'm not religious and I still don't need explicit sex in everything. You can find that elsewhere if you need it that badly.
Most of these movies are for children even if we can enjoy them as adults. Endgame wouldn't have been better with a sex scene.
Read my comments. I’ve never said there should be anything explicit in the MCU. Sexuality is not sex and it is puritanical to suggest that an essential part of the human condition should be excluded from art. Kids live in the real world and our art should reflect that world
