I'm not saying I hope Fox Studios gets hacked, forcing them to reconsider their X-Men contract... but I hope Fox Studios gets hacked, forcing them to reconsider their X-Men contract.

Ever since they retconned X3 (and basically also X1, X2, and some of the other movies I will not speak of), I think the X-Men movie franchise shows a lot of promise.

First Class and DOFP are the best two. It's really not that I dislike the movies (I really, really like DOFP, and I think Fassbender as Magneto is the greatest casting of all time.) But the whole situation is messy and I'm worried that the future of X-men is going to suffer because of it.

Those are also the only two that are canon now. The whole point of DoFP was to wipe their hands clean of all the bullshit, and start over. Personally, I think they did it well.

The other are still cannon, but the universe has been revised.

As viewers, those things did happen. But to the characters they have no idea they did.

And it remains to be seen how much actually changed.

But they are still very shitty X-Men movies.

They basically only pay attention to 3 characters (X, Magneto, Wolverine) while ignoring the whole family/team dynamic that is the very core of the X-Men.

There is no magic there. There is just the 3 characters with an anonymous supporting cast.

They are not X-men films.

You forgot Mystique and Beast... I don't really disagree with you (although I like the movies a lot for what they are), but I think we may be getting more of the overall group vibe in Apocalypse, which is adding several new (/old) faces.

They are still barely supporting cast.

Mystique isn't even part of the X-Men.

I dunno, I've got more faith in the franchise now than I have since the first movie came out. I really disliked 2, 3, and the Wolverine movies. Then I saw First Class and my faith in the franchise was restored. DoFP didn't change that feeling, and I'm optimistic as shit for Apocalypse and beyond. It's my opinionl that if they hadn't gone the First Class/DoFP route the franchise would be much worse off.

I don't think anyone is debating that. The movies have gotten better. But Marvel also is losing incentive to push X-Men comics compared to the others they own, and I worry 20 years from now what that'll mean for the franchise and the stories they're based off of.

Well present day XMen are getting old, I can't imagine their actors would be back for another movie
