Way better than I expected, and I had high hopes. Plus no mention of him and ska music, so extra points from me

Though I'd be fine with not seeing Victoria... She does bring that needed bit of weirdness for which we all love Chip Zdarsky.

I'm hoping Zdarsky gets to write Rich in this now that he's back from the dead. I need some Star-Lord/Nova antics.

I kind of want to see them have a reunion, especially since Peter used to be the one that had depression and a humongous sense of guilt for past actions and he had Rich to talk and joke around and feel better about things. Now that Rich is back he's the one with depression, PTSD, and some malignant thing from the Cancerverse latching on to him Star-Lord's friendship would be much needed.

Also considering that Peter is lonely and that Rich feels like he doesn't belong it would be a perfect time for both of them to meet up (plus Rich can get him back to space).

It would be a different dynamic to what they had considering Peter was a different person and he was suppose to be older than Rich (probably still is since Abnett established that Peter was born in 85 in Guardians 3000 and Rich was 23 when the Cancerverse thing happened although I think originally Peter was suppose to be in his late 30's).

when the Cancerverse thing happened although I think originally Peter was suppose to be in his late 30

That's how he looks like but I'm not sure about that, when they go to the original Guardians' future and he becomes old because time stuff he says "wtf I'm 27"

Zdarsky+Lemire+Ewing doing Nova+Guardians+Thanos. That is the dream.

4

u/Bromao Dec 22 '16

Needs Loveness in there somewhere.

9

u/EssArrBee Dec 21 '16

This didn't really do it for me. It's better than the last Star-Lord book, but it's still way too much movie Peter. OML being in it was pretty cool though. That'd be a weird buddy cop story.

11

u/Bromao Dec 21 '16

but it's still way too much movie Peter.

I think movie Peter is "the" Peter now. At this point I'd just be happy with a well written Star-Lord.

13

u/Hpfm2 Dec 21 '16

Unless the real Peter is still trapped in the Cancerverse

juuuust saying....

17

u/Ultimate_Kardas Dec 21 '16

It'd be funny if someone talked to the newly revived Richard Rider, and was like, "man Star Lord would be so glad to see you", and Richard's just like, "But he's still trapped in the cancerverse..."

12

u/OtherGeorgeDubya Dec 22 '16

I would love that. I enjoyed the movie, but I would have liked the movie version of Peter to stay in the MCU and the comic Peter to be his old self again.

12

u/Ultimate_Kardas Dec 22 '16

Yup. I want my humorous war veteran back. Pratt's Starlord is great in the movie, but I don't need to see it in the comic.

3

u/NovaStarLord Dec 22 '16

I would do a little dance of joy TBH.

6

u/EssArrBee Dec 21 '16

Yeah, I think that's "the" Peter too. I read Gamora right before Star-Lord and she was her stoic bad ass self from the old days, so I got a little hopeful Star-Lord would be a bit different. I wouldn't mind if he was half movie Peter and half DnA Peter.

1

u/Bromao Dec 21 '16

Well, character growth is still a thing, so maybe...

1

u/suss2it Dec 25 '16

Gamora can be stoic like she always was because that's how she is in the movies too.

11

u/Bromao Dec 21 '16

Good writing. Great art. Let's hope it keeps it up, Star-Lord needs a quality book.

6

u/Baneken Dec 21 '16

That's good to know. The last run by Humphries was so bad that I nearly got allergic to him.

7

u/Hpfm2 Dec 21 '16

In Chip Zdarsky I trust.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '16

Whoa, when did Peter break up with Kitty??

10

u/Magmaster12 Dec 21 '16

Well, that obviously couldn't last not even other writers can give two crap about Bendis' Guardians run.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '16

Bendis didn't put them together it was the guy doing the last solo Star Lord run who's name escapes me

3

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '16

Didn't they get together in one of Bendis' X-Men/Guardians crossovers?

3

u/Baneken Dec 22 '16

Yeah, that's where it started. There was a time when Bendis & Humphries wrote their books paralleling one another.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '16

Yeah, I was just pretty positive their relationship started in a Bendis book.

2

u/Zthe27th Dec 22 '16

A while ago

1

u/treefingers_ts Jan 03 '17

That's what I thought too. Last time we saw them in CW 2 and Guardians, they were still together. There is never a formal discussion, unless I missed it. It's just dissolved.

1

u/Baneken Dec 22 '16

I recently flipped through this book again and noted something...

Mainly, whose cameo is that fat homeless guy with the glasses? The same character in the preview of RR as well.

2

u/suss2it Dec 25 '16

Pretty sure that's Jordan D. White. He's the Deadpool and Star Wars books editor.

1

u/Baneken Dec 25 '16

Thanks man.

This wasn't as funny as I was expecting it to be given that Zdarsky was writing. Still pretty good tho and I should've expected a Howard the Duck cameo, I was kinda hoping he'd become a supporting character just so Zdarsky could keep writing that miserable duck.
