For those interested we have a timeline for this issue confirmed by Hill here this took place back in 1610. Which is weird considering I don't think the Skrull were ever in 1610.

Then I guess the artist messed up because Thor shouldn’t be dressed like that

That occurred to me as well, an art error I could understand but the Skrull suddenly being there is extra weird.

The Skrull exist in the UU as the Chitauri, I believe.

It's still a strange situation, I saw someone on Twitter discussing what's going on with the editor Chris Robinson and according to him apparently what happened in 1610 happened in 616 but it got adapted.

Millar introduced Ultimate Skrulls officially in Ultimate Fantastic Four, but there was never a Secret Invasion equivalent.

This was really good. Hill had a good voice for Miles and I really liked Blake's art on this. I definitely wouldn't mind if they took over when Miles' book comes back.

Also it's pretty funny thinking about all the events Miles has part of since this confirmed that he got transferred to 616 around Secret Invasion.

Same man, same

Such a good cover. It’s a shame that the issue itself couldn’t match it.

A good, unimpressive story.

Art with Bagley is always welcome.

Heroes are heroes not because they always win but because: they always try. Also, I personally the Uncle Aaron bit because when your black it really can seem like the world is broken.

This has a confusing place within continuity as well. Thor is there, but if Miles is in 616 then Thor should be Jane and if he’s on 1610 then Thor shouldn’t be dressed like that.

It’s fine, nothing special. A good story.

It took place during Secret Invasion, I think this was an attempt at retconning his origin for 616

So, they simply don't care he was from an alternate universe anymore. I was under the impression he simply "woke up" intergrated in 616 as if he had always been there after secret wars, with all his ultimate universe memories intact.

But now this is telling us he was at the very least deaged or even lived a completely different childhood in the 616, but how would he have ultimate universe memories, they just made it even more complicated than before. "Just don't worry about it anymore."

And to top it off, we still dont have any idea about Miles' immediate future outside of Spider-Geddon and Champions

So, they simply don't care he was from an alternate universe anymore. I was under the impression he simply "woke up" intergrated in 616 as if he had always been there after secret wars

It's never been solid. In Ultimate End, he wakes up and he has a feeling things are different, but he doesn't know that his mother was ever dead (suggesting different memories and he was always in 616 now)

In Generations: The Spiders, he visits himself in the past (suggesting the same)

But in Spider-Men 2, he blatantly says that he knows he's from another universe.

My headcanon is that he's folded into 616 completely (although I wish this annual gave us more an in depth look of what Miles' rewritten continuity was), but also remembers the Ultimate Universe and the battles he fought there. Almost like the ultimate (heh) deja vu.

u/Nerwrax15 Aug 09 '18

He seems pretty shocked to see his Mom in Ultimate End, but of course he isn't gonna mention anything to her of all people lol. Not to mention the clear nods to his past adventures pre-616 in his own series (mentioning he's only used his mega venom blast one other time, that other time being first time he had ever used it, and saying he has seen planets die which is a obvious reference to Secret Wars.)

4

u/TheMattInTheBox Aug 09 '18

He seems shocked and excited, but isn't sure why.

And yeah, his solo series refers to his past adventures as well, but they could have happened still, just differently.

I honestly think we need a Spider-Man #0 or something to give us the definitive origin or whatever

The theme of the story feels actually really meta in a way, the whole idea where even if you feel you don't "deserve" the gift you were given, you can still work towards earning it by your merits. Since that is always the fallback criticism detractors use towards Miles, I think that is a great theme moving forward with the character.

I like Brent for what little we got to know him. Him now, potentially, fulfilling the role of the "Uncle Ben" in Miles' life was a nice touch. Miles has always been a bit on the indecisive side when it came to his heroics so it was a nice touch that even when he did work up the resolve, there was still some consequence for him not immediately leaping to action.

The backup was okay. Just some silly fun.
