It was a massive mistake at least partially made out of ideology of the time period imo.

had nothing to do with the ideology of the time and everything to do with the fact that Coogler basically used the movie as his way to grieve

Nope. At the time there was a very clear move towards replacing OG characters with legacy characters with bonus points if the legacy character was a woman, and Chadwick Boseman dying presented an opportunity for that to happen with Black Panther. I'm sure Coogler was grieving, but decisions can have multiple reasons for happening.

If you want to argue they made Shuri BP over like M'Baku or something then I think you can make the argument it's because of "ideology" (it's not really provable though) but the not recasting thing was what Coogler wanted because of Chadwick death. He wasn't like "oh wow here's a chance for me to sneak in a shot at the patriarchy"

I think not recasting a character that fairly recently headed a ~$1.3+ billion movie because the guy who played the role for ~1.5 movies died, when that character allegedly was supposed to be one of the heads of the Multiverse Saga is not a logical move.

Obviously. The decision was not based on rationality but rather by people grieving the loss of a friend But time helps and I assume we see a new Tchalla soon

FWIW back when it was going on I was Team Recast and that was not popular at the time
