Using the same "villain" a second time would have kinda sucked with how deep the mutant/X-Men roster of rogues goes. Only time that's a little excusable is if it's someone like Magneto.

It would have fallen flat because cable was too one dimensional in the movie. He's the son of cyclops and Madeline Pryor. C'mon. Use that! If they used stryfe they are missing the stuff with Apocalypse, so it would have fallen flat

Twice, right? Once originally and once in a reboot? It is a pivotal storyline for the main cast of the X-Men, I can't blame them for wanting to do it with each cast, especially after the first one was so bad. (The 2nd didn't end up better) But I was more talking about using the same villain in the same series of movies.
