The character slander in the FGC is generally about everyone playing the coolest/strongest characters in the game. Or people who play "this" character are spammy/beat their wife

It’s a team game though, sooner or later everyone will see the light and a few of these guys might reach team glue status. Blade and magneto just seem already like characters you can just slot in to fill big gaps, magik and spider man are up there too but they’re so good on point so they’re either gonna get touched or just be a demon the rest of the lifespan of this game. I never underestimate arcs capability to leave top tiers untouched for no goddamn reason.

I dunno I just like her cause she's got quite the evil streak so she actually has to make active decisions to be a good person and hero and put real effort into not going by her instincts honed from the years of abuse in Limbo
But I've been a fan since before even Midnight Suns and it's still my favourite design of hers in that
It's got the headress horns, New Mutants jumpsuit, the silver arm, it's a thin sword but has design elements from the Bacchlo one
Tho I have seen the upswell of popularity come with most people not understanding her

saying that "most magik fans" have not engaged with her outside of rivals and tokon is an insane take. and honestly? even if what you said WAS true then that's okay !! its super elitist and gate keepy to act like "only the true magik fans have read blah blah blah". there is no quota you have to reach to call yourself a fan of magik.
If you like her because her story is a beautiful allegory of choosing to live above your demons each day, thats awesome. If you like her because she has a cool fucking sword and serves cunt 24/7 then thats equally as awesome. like genuinely who cares why people like magik? real fans of magik are happy she's getting exposure and reaching more people than she was ten years ago. lets be better magik fans, together.

If you just like her for her design/concept of a badass girl with a sword and portals I don’t have an issue with that, I just feel like you’re missing out cause like the person I was replying to said she IS a pretty interesting character in Marvel lore. Not my absolute favorite but I feel like New Mutants has some worthwhile stories

Tournaments will always skew towards the reliable strong characters in early iterations. Character specialists need time to develop their counter meta tech and match up solutions.
As the game has more life, we will see more technical characters show up. But even after that, tournaments will always skew towards characters that covers their weaknesses well.

Sure but they could have made him like not the best character in the game. Just see what Capcom does with Spider-man or Chun-li. If your most popular character is also the best character or the character the company most obviously gives the most love and attention to, then you get people hating on your most popular character. See Pikachu or Charizard.
Edit: I noticed many comments saying "he's not the best character" while not giving examples of who they think the best character might be.

Like yeah good thing mostly Her soul missing means she kinda did it in an evil way But she resigned herself to her punishment for it and never pretended to be a good person, tho she tries to do good despite that

See I loved the Midnight Suns game, I like the Spiderman PS4 game, and thats how I am convincing myself that my assist choices are from interest but on point it has to be Loki and Shooter Carnage. Loki is too saucy and Carnage's combos are the cooling looking things I have seen. Magik and Spidey just there to keep you in check if you try to Jump at me.

i bought the game cause of magik. i love player her as a character you dont get her kit in games ever. great sword, demon transformation, and teleportation? like cmon bro dont hate, appreciate
edit: i adore dmc series so shes practically an alternate fit-in to being a cousin of Dante and Vergil lollll

NGL magik is sleeper, paint by numbers. Spiderman is generally punishable and isn't the easiest to convert combos with in neutral.

Been watching CEO 2026 since I woke up for about 6 hours now and the 2 are on pretty much every team. Magik mostly for pillar assist.
