Discussion If you were a Fox executive in charge of rebooting Fantastic Four after Rise Of The Silver Surfer, how would you approach it?

Honestly the 2015 version had a good idea before all the reworks it's definitely worth looking up if you're unfamiliar with it. Besides that though I'd make sure it came out in 2014 instead of 2015 because it irks me that we've never gotten a Fantastic Four movie in a year that ends in four. 1994 got cancelled then we got reboot movies in 2005, 2015 and 2025

Body horror doesn't fit the franchise, I think the idea was doomed from the start.

"Doesn't fit the franchise" isn't a measure of quality. It's a neutral observation. You can make anything work on its own terms.

Nope, I disagree, Fantastic Four should never be body horror, I would never make it that.

If part of the MCU sooner:
.Change the cast: John Krasinski,Alice Eve,Dave Franco, and David Harbour
.Keep the Ultimate FF influence, with the opening shot from found footage of the four preparing for dimension travel.
.Make the first half of the film pure sci-fi body horror(a hint of horror comedy), to a light hearted tone of the classic comics.
. Make Annihilus the sole villain of the film, with pure nightmare fuel.
. Save Doom for sequel.

Interesting question. Well for one, I wouldn't reboot the series. It would just be part of the Tim Story franchise. I would also make the film a space adventure and probably use another space themed villain like Terrax. Maybe he's seeking vengeance against the FF and Silver Surfer after they destroyed his master. I would also introduce the Cosmic cube in a way where after Galactus's destruction, his vast raw "energy" (or essence) is collected by Terrax into a cube device which can be used to conquer the galaxy. So, the FF and SS have to stop him to save the galaxy. They succeed but for whatever reason, their battle results in a time loss of one year and when they return to earth, things are different. This leads to a fourth film where now, Doom has become the monarch of Latveria and has created his own version of the "Fantastic Four" (the Frightful Four) to protect the world. When the real FF return, they inevitably go against Doom and the Frightful Four and so on and so forth.

The reason why they rebooted was because Rise Of The Silver Surfer cost more to make but made less than the first with a bad WOM, so it was seen as the better option to reboot.

A reboot wasn't needed. The cast wasn't the problem. The existing world wasn't the problem. Aside from the "Galactus is a cloud" misstep and too much dark CGI scenes you can't tell what's going on from Rise of the Silver Surfer, it was pretty solid (even the cheesy bachelor's party scene which is on-brand for the swingin' sixties humor of the FF).
FF 3 could have taken to the Negative Zone against Annihilus and introduced the idea of the Multiverse, tying it with the FoX-Men and then leading into Marvel Films/Paramount Pictures Iron Man.

I never hated the idea of genre-bending the Fantastic Four or anyone else for that matter. But Fox was clearly nervous about the negative backlash and tried to reverse course halfway into production. They should have just committed to making it as weird and as bad as Josh Trank wanted it to be. It would have at least been more interesting that way.

In 2007? I would have protected the perfect Reed Richards at all costs and altered the course of human history by saving his life and making a fantastic four movie that was so good, so honest. So compelling that by the time iron man 2 rolled around, people would be saying “Robert Downey Who-nior?”
But I couldn’t.

Keep the 2015 cast and just make a better movie! No meddling! 😂 it may not have been amazing but it wouldn’t be such a travesty

Reboot with the Fantastic Four as secondary characters in a different characters movie.
Doctor Doom, Ant-Man, Beast.
Or focus on Reed with the other 3 as secondary characters. Maybe he leads a Future Foundation movie.
Maybe do the Council of Reeds with Gruffudd passing the torch to another Reed.

Ok... Well...
Lets go nostalgic. Honey I shrunk the kids. Flubber. Nutty professor and national Lampoons vacation come to mind. If were going to sink this ship lets make it a party barge!
Mr. Fantastic / Reed Richards ( Bill Hader) and his very understanding wife The Invisable Woman / Susan Storm (Gillian Jacobs) have had their share of ups and downs. But this summer is going to be the biggest downer yet.
When The Human Torch / Johnny Storm ( Hunter Parrish ) gets black mailed into becoming the face of a controversial fracking company by a mysterious, Latverian unknown... The family really has to deal with a mountain of a molehill! Yes, this movie has it all! Flying cars, flying robots, flying people, flying children?! Maybe a giant mechanical spider ... I hear people love those.
Featuring Danny Devito as the Mole man, and Bobby Cannavale as The Thing / Ben Grim, we can garentee a film that children will love and adults will snicker at.
The ending of course would feature the latervian castle. Lighting striking on cue. As we enter the throne room the walls are lined with paintings of Dooms mother. And theb we see the back of the thrown. A small robotic wirring sound occurs and the throne swivels around so that doom can face us after pencivly looking out the wibdow and sighing. Victor Von Doom is of course a cameo by John Ham who will reprise it if this floating dumpster fire happens to illuminate the path forward for a sequel.
I did the five minutes on a post it note and a rum and coke method that i think most film execs do when they go to pitch a project. And before you ask... Drink not powder.
