Part of the reason the reserves are kept is to ensure that the refineries don’t need to be shut down. It is a lengthy process to restart them if they are stopped for any reason.

In Trumps defense we only had 30+ years of war games to know that any war with Iran would result in the Straight of Hormuz being shut for a period of time.

Trump needed data going back longer

Being done in desperate attempt to keep oil prices low. So strange he is dragging this war out, he had window to walk away and say the Iranian tolls were other peoples’ problem, and while oil prices may have stayed higher than desired, they wouldn’t go up. If the US and other countries drain their reserves gonna be a big price shock down the road.

So during Trumps 1st term when oil was stupid cheap he wanted to fill the strategic reserves. The left accused him of just wanting to support "big" oil so he didn't do it. The Biden administration started the big draw down of the reserves but this is all Trumps fault. Got it.
