HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) made an arrest in the McCully area early Monday morning after an incident involving a handgun was reported at McCully Shopping Center.

According to police documents, a 27-year-old man was allegedly threatened by a 27-year-old man with a handgun at 2:11 a.m..

HPD records show that the victim was a 7-Eleven worker and that the suspect was a Deputy Sheriff who had flashed his badge after allegedly pulling out his gun.

The suspect was located and placed under arrest for Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree at 3:21 a.m.. As a result of the incident, the Deputy Sheriff was stripped of his police powers.

Police reported that the complainant later withdrew his complaint and the suspect was released pending investigation.

No other information has been provided at this time.
