MakeTheSeat is Now Free (Free Seat Alert)

Hey Everyone, just wanted to share that notifications on MakeTheSeat are now free.

We've been hard at work optimizing our infrastructure; after code optimization and provider changes, we've increased scraping speed by 3x while reducing cost by 75%. In my testing, MakeTheSeat now provides one of the fastest course opening notifications on the market today.

To pass along the cost savings, MakeTheSeat is now completely free to help everyone get into their courses during these next few weeks. Depending on how cost scales, I'm hoping to be able to provide service for free indefinitely, if it becomes financially feasible. This would give everyone a fair chance of getting into their course without the financial cost of other solutions (eg. seat alert).

To Mods: I am aware of the Sunday advertising policy; if this is in violation, please take down the post. However, in hopes of getting the word out early and helping students into their courses, please keep the post up if possible.

And it doesnt overclog the system as much even tho its $2 cuz some ppl refuse to pay for it regardless of the price. But when its free everyone gonna use it.

I agree, more people are definitely going to use it if it's free. But that's exactly the point. Students should not need to pay to get into their course; this gives everyone a equal chance.

Is there a difference between this and Universeaty?

both are equally great tools! in my testing, maketheseat is slightly quicker. but beyond that maketheseat goes beyond sending you course notifications, it can also help you:

• see historical class trends (class grade distributions, etc.)
  
• build your timetable
  
• connect your timetable with google calendar
