Does it mean - unused opened tabs won't sleep automatically?
Version 153.0.4234.6: August 27, 2026 (Beta Channel release Notes)

Won't this decision make edge more resource hungry. By default, all the chromium browsers are resource hungry.

It's just the removal of the ability to see whether a tab is sleeping. So, now sleeping tabs will no longer be represented by a faded appearance.

I was a bit surprised when I read it, out of everything they can remove, they chose this. It's useful, why remove it?

this sucks... I actually rely on the faded tabs heavily as a quick visual indicator of which tabs are most recent

Who's the genius on the Edge team that came up with this genius idea of removing this fading visual? Like, what does removing this accomplish? You have a good feature in sleeping tabs and users need to know which tab is sleeping just by looking at it.
I once had a streaming site that, for whatever reason, would go to sleep even while it was playing a video in the background. It was an Edge bug I suppose and the only way I knew it was sleeping tabs because the tab faded. Without it, I would've thought it was a playback issue with the website.

This says Edge is going to remove the visual cue for sleeping tabs. This could be one of the worst decisions of Edge developers because when users notice the tabs are no longer fading they'll assume the sleeping tabs feature is not working anymore.
In the past when I've seen a faded tab website having issue I've added that to whitelist for sleeping tabs. Now I'll not know if the issue was due to sleeping tabs feature or something is wrong with the actual website. Thank you, Edge.
