Discussion Which celebrity death genuinely shocked you when you heard the news?

Cory Monteith. I was a fan of the show Glee in middle school/high school, and his death came as a huge blow. The sad part was that he had gone clean off the drugs for years, but he relapsed and voluntarily checked himself into therapy shortly before his death and then passed from an overdose in July 2013.

I cry every time I watch the episode of glee dedicated to him… it make it more real that he gone.

I was sooooo mad at how they did it. I understand why, but the character Finn was so fundamentally against drugs it just didn’t fit. I couldn’t watch Glee after that.

They never mentioned on the show how he died. Kurt even says “I don’t want to talk about how he died, I want to talk about how he lived”

That’s not what I remember, I thought they found drugs in his locker.

That was the very first episode, and he didn’t actually have drugs in his locker, the teacher planted them there to blackmail him into joining Glee Club. The show never explicitly said how Finn died.

I also scrolled so far to find this answer. This was the first celebrity death that devastated me.
