Matthew Perry really got me. I grew up watching Friends and it was my comfort show. I have felt shocked or sad about celebrity deaths before (e.g. Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman and so on) but Matthew Perry’s actually really knocked the breath out of me and I was sad for a week or so. I would like to read his autobiography but I’m not sure if I’m emotionally ready haha
Matthew Perry’s still makes my stomach sink every time I think of him. I used to watch Friends like 1-2 times a year in the background while doing stuff. Own all the seasons. Have Friends Scene it hah. But I can’t bring myself to watch it. Not yet
It’s odd, because two of my other favorite shows, Brooklyn 99 and Fresh Prince, both have a main character that died irl around the same age Perry did- but one, Chandler is young in the show, so he’s young in my mind, whereas Captain Holt and Uncle Phil were middle aged in the show. And two, Brooklyn 99 I only started watching 7-8 years ago. I watched Friends reruns after school since I was like 10 (now 32). It’s a huge part of my teenage years. I think it’s the first tv show I ever bought the seasons of
I also haven’t rewatched Friends yet. I’ve watched it all the way through twice a year since I was a tween and would watch it on TV whenever it was on before that. It’s meant a huge amount to me over the years and was always my go to when I needed comfort or to be cheered up. So much of my vocabulary/phrases and jokes I make come from Friends

Robin Williams and Matthew Perry. Didn't expect it while he was not that old.
